MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Shame, the muppet and the handy capped cant comprehend.
You dont get kicked from the mweb network for downloading 'too much', you get kicked for bypassing the shaper.
No use playing the innocent card either, 'regular' users dont do 600gb+ in a month.

Well, I've had enough torrents in my queue to ensure they don't stop downloading 24 hours a day. No special applications to abuse the shaper, just plain 'ol Transmission and a queue with over 3TB in it (as well as a couple of the latest things on NNTP to feed my life). You could call me a hoarder.

This has been the case for at least the last 6 months and I have not received an abuse e-mail or been suspended. So, I guess I'm saying that either your account was not provisioned properly or you're doing something untoward with your torrents (or have been streaming 720p on YouTube 24/7?).

I'm chuffed to bits about the speeds I'm getting, my only complaint/suggestion is that MWEB investigate getting a better retention in their (or whoever they are getting the service from) news servers.

@Pr⊕phet....i have been looking at a lot of old complaints about mweb, i always see you aggressively defend MWEB on every one.

All the way back to 2010

Do you work for them?

i Everyone

The complaints on HelloPeter fall into the category of individual customer issues, the specifics of these incidents are between us and the customer and are not open to general discussion.

Regarding how this affects the AUP these are all points have already been sufficiently clarified and nothing has changed. We looked at both long stretches of unattended downloads at high speeds and bypassing of the shaping rules - more often than not these two conditions went hand in hand, in cases where they did not we used our discretion in how to deal with the issue with our customers.

If you ask the same question repeatedly you may find that the answer is open to slight variances of interpretation depending on who wrote the answer, but our message and the policy remains consistent with the CEO's original statement and the terms and conditions.

We will continue to be as open and transparent with this process as possible, however we would also ask that once we have answered a question sufficiently that healthy discussion is moved forward from that point.

I am currently spending a lot of my time refining the reporting, monitoring and customer communication involved in how we implement the AUP and I assure that I have listened to all of your feedback and taken much of it onboard in terms of how we will move forward with this.

Kind Regards

The issue is actually unattended operation as I see it - bypassing shaping is via unattended downloading which is causing the problem when the downloading is high. So you can get kicked by downloading too much, in which case the question is how much is too much - same question asked over and over again.

Say what you will, it's not very smart to just assume someone gets your emails.
But I suppose official policy is what it is for a reason.

Will do thanks, everything else seems fine, browsing, GW2 etc just the news.

Nope, same response, failed to connect timeout. Based in durbs btw.

Thanks for the feedback, are you connecting with the news server IP or with news.mweb.co.za?

I noticed that you are still connecting with the same IP as well, please reconfigure your router with the incorrect details then the correct details to force a connection with a new IP.

ok Changed the account and re-booted, changed back again still no joy. Did the IP change?

The IP did not change, however try using news.mweb.co.za and see if you are able to connect that way.

I checked your account and you are still connecting with the same IP. I can also not see an attempted connection with the incorrect account detail.

@MWEB Guy

I have been with Telkom for a bit. Switched over to MWEB uncapped at 1mbps account.
With Telkom I do connect at 2mbps.
Question when with telkom and mweb I cant watch YouTube or any other website for that matter.
I always see bit of video the stutter more stutter that how it carries along.
What speed is required to watch YouTube or for that matter?:D
