MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Cant seem to download from netload... Anybody else experiencing the same thng?

SUPER IRRITATED, as our 4MB Line is running at less than 1MB (about 0.38MB) This is completely unacceptable! We have complained now for abt 3 weeks and nothing has been done.

My only advice is cut your losses and cancel your MWEB account as soon as possible. We went through the same thing, had unusably bad performance from the 4Mbps account, we also generously gave MWEB several weeks to try "resolve" the issue, and the only effect of doing so was that we have been punished by being billed for an extra month of unusable service. Over R1000 for two months worth of unusably bad service. And they have refused any kind of refund!

The sooner you cancel your MWEB account, the fewer months you will be billed for non-performing service, the less time and money you will waste. Cancel today!

MWEB is seemingly insisting on billing me for two full months of very poor performance (low speeds, disconnects, timeouts, freezing downloads etc.) of their 4Mbps uncapped account - R539 x 2, over R1000 in exchange for failing to deliver a working product. And because of the poor performance we've had to purchase accounts from other ISPs, so ~ R2000 odd in all for two months Internet :/

We struggled for weeks and weeks trying to get their "technicians" to address the problems and they did nothing. By end November we gave up, now they insist on billing for December, for an unusably bad product.

My only advice is get out as fast as you can and cut your losses, every extra month is another month you will be billed for a non-working product.

(MWEB also tried to blame our equipment, it's not our equipment, multiple other ISP accounts work beautifully on the same router and line.)

I have responded to your inbox message and I have escalated this matter.

There was no new response by you in my inbox, only the same ones where you feigned ignorance of the problem, and your "escalations" have amounted to nothing other than an insistence that I still be billed over R1000 for two months of unusable product.

Hi David,

Thanks for the feedback, I have replied to your FB post as well.
I'm am look into this for you from side.

Hi there, i'm having unusable speeds right now as i cannot even get onto my email let alone any site, international or local.

Hi SpleenPoker

I checked the line and account, nothing seems out of the ordinary from what I can see. We don't have any issues on the network as well and there isn't any issues in the area.

Please power down the router for 20 minute as I re-authed the account. Continue to monitor during the course of the day.

Hi

The odd thing in our case is the issues seem to actually Telkom and not Mweb. I was fortunate enough to get a trial account from OpenWeb and Imaginet, and all 3 accounts have the same problem. I tried a different router, even changed network cables, always the same result. The main issue is to get Telkom to respond, they have this habit od smsing you saying the fault is fixed and nothing ever seems to be done. Now being late December I am having serious doubts I will have decent ADSL in December (and my wife has a lot of work to do) being a Graphics Designer December is one of her busiest months.

I am almost forced to try an 8TA account at R199 for 10MB just for the month, at least then I am not reliant on my telephone line. But then this extra expense should be refunded.

MWEB Guy, could I possibly bug you to check my account as well?

Something just doesn't seem right and I'd like to confirm if I am just on a congested exchange or if there is possibly something else.

Even though my router seems to be synching at 2mb/s it just seems inferior to my previous house and the connection there.

Hi Arzy

Please can you PM me the MWEB email address so that I can check this on our side.

I can't check if you are connected to a congested exchange, if you provide traceroutes, I will be able to check from there.

Any idea what is up?

Hi F1ve_Claw

I checked the account and line, can't see anything wrong. There is no reported issues in the area and the network is fine as well.

Power down the router for 20 minutes and test again.

2 firefox tabs just to load google and im screwed lol

Please contact Teklom, have the port re-created and reset the router. Once that is done, do a speedtest immediately and see what the results are.

The odd thing in our case is the issues seem to actually Telkom and not Mweb. I was fortunate enough to get a trial account from OpenWeb and Imaginet, and all 3 accounts have the same problem.

Hmm, OK; in our case we tried accounts from multiple ISPs and MWEB consistently was the only one with problems.

Try your ADSL username with @mweb.co.za (removing the dsl part) strangly enough it helped me.... Don't know what the difference is between @dslmweb.co.za or @mweb.co.za?

I didn't have the dsl part to begin with. We tried loads of things, the only thing that consistently helped was "use an ISP other than MWEB".

Hi David.

We are currently investigating this matter and I will provide you with feedback as soon as I can.
