MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

My concern is latency on Telkom package and Openweb's "standard" uncapped. Heavily contended services? Will wait to see what MWEB puts out on the table first! I do love me some 2MB and at these new prices I will definitely upgrade again.

International has just borked out, it's either take ages and ages to load or just not loading at all. Ingame I have 50% packet loss.

Hi Guys, so guess I'm not the only one that's experiencing super super! slow internet speed through out the day and night, what's going on with mweb right now? And anyone know when the problem will be fixed?

4meg uncapped

I had the same problem (slow speeds) the last couple of days. Phoned MWEb twice, they reset the port and speed was back to normal for a couple hours. To give you an idea. we ran a speed test on my 4MB line.

Ping 50ms
Downspeed 0.8Mbps
Upspeed 0.12 Mbps

Reset Port

Ping 10ms
DownSpeed 4.2 Mbps
Upspeed 0.39Mbs

I've got the same problem on Twitch.tv :(

Hi All

Please let me know if you are still experiencing any slow speed issues today. I would like to look into it from our side if it is still affecting you.

Hi capek

Please can you let me know what colour are the lights on the router at the moment? Do you have dial tone your landline at the moment?

Hi MWEB Guy,
I have no phone so I can't check the dial tone. The lights on the router are all green (two green lights and one blinking green one) and I already resetted the router. But that does not help. I will sent you my phone number via PM.

Experiencing sluggish/erratic international browsing. Hop 7 only abnormality i can see..... Please advise. Thanks

Here I am at the moment. Problem still the same as reported above (14 Jan 2013). I followed the Mweb advisement that 52 db attenuation may be causing this. Went through line provider to Telkom. (I will not go into details of what was reported and what the Telkom tech jobcard reported, unbelievable) All I can say is, the bucket gets passed....

Telkom technician made a home visit, tested the line etc. All good. No issue from his report.

So here I am back at Mweb. What is the next step?

I am getting slightly agitated. This is now the SECOND request of mine recently on this forum that has continued after reporting with no definite outcome. Previous issue was not being able to visit certain websites for long periods, just to have it available again after certain time of day. This, verified by another Mweb user, while a Telkom test account show no issue....

The most popular "fix" is refreshing a port, reset your router. Is this the main route of assist? I will soon have to replace my router power switch for excessive use...

Current problem is slow/sluggish browsing with 1st to 3rd hop pings of 6-7ms and download speeds are in perfect condition, browsing NOT, randomly showing high pings around the 6-7-8 Mweb hops.

Is this now just another problem that cannot be seen until it vanishes mysteriously, like a number of issues I notice here.??

Will this problem vanish into thin air at end of month? Shaping?? How long is the veil to be kept over our eyes before service provision matches the monthly payments taken unconditionally from the client?

Look at current Mweb hops, 5-8. See the variance in pings on consecutive points. This is still local....
Telkom DSLAM hops consistent as shown.

Any-one care to explain?

Hi Mortiiy

By the sound of things I completely understand why you are agitated as your query is still not resolved.

I will log this with our technical specialist who will contact you and do more troubleshooting in order to assist in resolving the query.

Sorry to nag, MWEB Guy, but please check your PM's regarding my cancellation. I want to make sure it doesn't slip through the cracks so I don't have to pay another month beyond the calendar month's notice I gave today.

Hi Souldcode

I received the PM from you. I will be responded to you via PM.

Mweb's new adsl packages

Let me get this straight, mweb is launching new packages that are throttled and shaped, does this mean that the current packages are going to become unshaped and not throttled? If not, how do these new packages keep a current customer from going to another isp where he/she can get a better or cheaper deal than mweb for less money and not be throttled and shaped?

Don't get me wrong, the new 1mbps and 2mbps packages look great in terms of the speed you get out of it. This is more concerning the 4mbps and up packages, since you guys didn't bother reducing the current packages' price, but rather shape and throttle the new package so it can be like the current 2mbps speeds. I am baffled how this logic is working, so please explain.
