All of my tests were done without background traffic! I'm monitoring my MikroTik router's traffic, so I'm 100% sure that there were no other traffic.

See my graph below of how my download speed (the green line) gradually increased from ~1Mbps to 2Mbps from 23:00 - 23:50:

I have exactly the same problem with mutiple ISPs in Stellenbosch. I doubt it's ISP related.

Please can the following information be provided regarding the Skype queries:

1) Does it happen all day and is it also a problem at night?
2) What Operating system do you have and what is the skype version. Please check help -> about.
3) Are there any other pc’s on the network with skype, and do they also give problems?
4) What is the exact problem:
4.1) Disconnects after a while
4.2) Skype doesn’t even log in
4.3) Logs in and calls connect, just bad quality
4.4) The video part is bad, or the voice part is bad, or both?

What was the outcome of the RDP issue? I am having intermittent RDP issues into my home server, will work and if i disconnect and try reconnect it does not for the rest of the day....

1.) All day/night
2.) Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - Skype version 6.2.0.106, FreeBSD 9.1 x64 - Skype version 2.0.0.72
3.) Both systems experience the same problem
4.1) Disconnects frequently
4.2) Unable to connect for periods between a couple minutes to hours
4.3) Haven't been able to make calls at all
4.4) See above

3) Every single device on the network that can have skype gives issues.
4.1) Yes
4.2) No
4.3) No calls period, can't make a connection between 2 mweb users.
4.4) No voice, no video.

There also seems to be random loss of connections on certain routes, the tappi.org example being one.
I can download torrents off tracker A at full speed, but tracker B won't connect.
I check through a vpn (don't actually download) if i can connect to the tracker and I do just fine. Once I have the list of seeds/peers it downloads normally.

EDIT: Can even do the same thing to connect to a tracker via my 3g connection (can't use it for the main download for obvious reasons)
Can I at least get a response on why I can't connect to certain trackers. I am not asking for a p2p downloading issue to be solved. P2P is a shaped service, this has been said before. My problem is that torrent X will download on Mweb but torrent Y can't even connect to get a list of seeds/peers.

1) Yes all day/night
2) Windows 8 Pro 64bit, skype - 6.1.60.129
3) yes, same problem with both
4.1) yes, all the time
4.2) half the time
4.3) no calls can be made
4.4) Both are terrible

The few calls I have made seem fine, but I don't exactly make many nor have I been able to test while the problem occurs.

Edit: Can't currently connect at all

I got a friend who is interested in Mweb. however he does not want his line rental with telkom because of bad service. is it possible to set up a line and dsl package through mweb alone ?

Hi Shuyin, we can certainly sign him up for an all inclusive account ( adsl line and data with MWEB ) he would still however pay telkom for the voice line rental.

Pm me your friends name and contact number and i will arrange for him/her to be contacted.

Oh so you cant have a line without the phone line from telkom thats a bummer ohwell ill let him know thanks.

What are you using for that graph? Is that the Mikrotik software?

Our international has been slow today. We're currently on a skype call with US and it's horrible. I'm buying a new account for the month ahead with someone else and cancelling Mweb. I'll run them concurrently and decide where I'm ultimately going to stay. The mere fact that I have to run them concurrently (month's notice) is motivation for me to switch.

I also have been getting inconsistent tracert results, and I think that's the underlying problem, possibly there is packet loss happening.
 
MWEB Guy, I will be cancelling my MWEB account at the beginning of next month, but I want to keep my email account and web hosting. Is it possible to keep the mail account and where do I get the forms.

I am sorry to hear that you would like to cancel, is there anything I can do to make you reconsider ?

In order to keep your MWEB address you will need to downgrade your accountto a mailbox only.

Thanks MWEB Guy, sadly it is all down to cost. I was hoping that MWEB would join the price cuts the introduction of the new accounts did not make the offerings anymore enticing. I can get 10mb uncapped for less than I am paying at the moment for 4mb uncapped.
