Ok, so now it seems neither news.mweb.co.za or 196.28.182.50 are working for me, (socket error # 10054Connection reset by peer.)
but torrents are working :wtf: seems like my connection has a mind of its own.

My 1mb is great no problems with youtube torrents etc going to be upgrading to a 4 meg premium uncapped end of this month.

you tube does not work! not even 240p??

ok this is not going to work!its a sunday evening?? why is it slow??

Hi poorestguy

Is it only streaming you are having an issue with? How is your general browsing?

I mailed Openweb and they sent me a 48 hour trial account in 5 minutes. This is the first time I have been able to watch streaming media in weeks. This is how 4meg suppose to feel, how Mweb used to be.

I am now very unhappy about MWEB's service.

Skype doesn't work, ever, and YouTube is a waste of time. I have been tracking IP specific bandwidth usage and I think it is becoming very clear that MWEB's "unthrottled" offerings have site specific throttles. This is a clear and criminal violation of the Consumer Protection Act.

My next step is to start a campaign to get 1000 people to lodge separate complaints to the the Consumer Protection Council, which will be enough to get MWEB both investigated by the Council and to draw nation media coverage on MWEB's short-comings.

Hi CapetonianMike
Send me your MWEB details so that i can investigate this matter.

I was also having streaming problems on youtube yesterday evening. It was between about 6pm and 9pm. I was only getting 30-40kbps speeds on my 1mb uncapped premium line. General browsing seemed fine though, just youtube streaming seems to be affected.

This problem has also been happening to me intermittently for the past 2 months or so.

Some feedback...

I haven't had any problems with streaming video and youtube in the last month.

I have had problems with some torrents, but not all. The torrents that don't work on MWEB, do work with my OpenWeb Gold unshaped account. Torrents are slow during business hours (20kB/s - 70kB/s), but I can live with that.

Skype has been working intermittently, although it seems to have cleared up at some point over the weekend. I hope it stays that way. :)

My MWEB accounts are all 4Mbps Uncapped @R539pm and I live near East London.

Just wondering whether there are any known issues with the MWeb CPT network?

Was having terrible lag yesterday when I tried playing an online game. I now did a traceroute and hop 5 seems high?

Hi

We are not experiencing any trouble in your are, here's the link to our outages page http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/NetworkStatusNotices.aspx

Is this happening at specific times or random time during the day?

hi, im only at home during evenings and weekends so its only those times that i access youtube. come now, this has been going on forever? when i switch over to my fnb account i have absolutely no issues.

Thanks for the feedback MWeb Guy, I checked the network notices page before I came here.

Glad to report that download speeds are back up to where they normally are.

The hop to TenGigE0-0-0-2.11.cpt-p-2.mweb.co.za [196.28.178.98] stays high-ish though.

I was using (trying to use) youtube yesterday afternoon when it used only about halve my 1meg line speed. Torrents though were getting full line speed so based on the other comments here it seemed to be some kind of bull**** shaping issue.

Sies man.

But to be on the point, I also seems to get some serious shaping throughout the day for the last week.
