MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Heya MWEB Guy. Having some difficulty streaming 360p Twitch.tv. Will wait a while and see if the problem solves itself. :)

I don't know if this helps but I have had the same problems as most recent posters.

If I turn off my modem for 30 minutes and then connect again everything is OK. Then around 18:00 every evening the same youtube and torrent problems pop up.

Turning it off for 10 seconds (or 1 minute, whatever) does NOT have the same effect

I just moved over to Mweb on Friday, speeds of my downloads and browsing are really bad today. I'm in the Sandton area.

What's up?

Yowser - also feeling horribly slow. Ran a speed test just now
Test conducted on 3/4/2013 7:59:51 PM

Download Speed: 1096 kbps (137 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 493 kbps (61.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 201 ms

4MB line :O

Everything other than YouTube, is running fine. Streaming videos on my 1MB line, I'm lucky if I see more than 10kB/s.

Hi there first time I have had any issues in months but from Saturday night I have been experiencing High pings in games and the same issues as the rest with youtube videos freezing at 2 secs ect. Rebooted the router and all the other usual troubleshooting steps just want to let you guys now that there is something wrong so it can be sorted out as soon as humanly possible thank you

Sad day :(

My 2mb MWeb uncapped has become progressively slower and slower.
A friend with a similar experience using MWEB 4mb uncapped is trying Openweb and found that it was way quicker than mweb.
After ruling out all possible problems on my side I tried an OpenWeb Trial account and had the same results(Openweb>Mweb).

What the hell? Mwebguy what is going on?

I have a 10mb line with a 4mb uncapped account and this is what I am getting. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2550562395.png

This has been a constant issue. My p2p has been slower than 50kb/s (any time of the day) and dealing with support is so painful I have given up. Finally get to pick a new ISP next month. Yay!

I have been trying to deduce whether you guys are speaking of their 'new throttled' accounts, cos I'm thinking of making the switch from my 2mb R369pm to the new 2mb R239pm.

Good idea / Bad idea?

Youtube is now dead. Pretty unimpressive performance overall the last few weeks.

These are the normal accounts. From my experience dont go near those throttled accounts. Hell, eve the premium accounts are hopeless at the moment.

Cool thanks, my 2mb prem account seems to be fine. Can download at full line speed with torrents and play YouTube @ 480p without freezing!

From what I can deduce from my experience over the last couple of weeks and from other peoples posts, there seems to be some definite shaping on some HTTP sites such as Youtube. There is also some sort of throttling going on. When I use the the telkom guest account I get full 2mb from speedtest. On MWEB I am currently getting between 0.4mb and 0.8mb. They have "reset" my account which has pretty much done nothing.

Howsit MWEB GUY, can you confirm if there is some general network problem at MWEB? I'm on smart village fibre (apparently backed by MWEB) and I'm experiencing the same problems as the MWEB guys here, the connection only seems to be fine early in the morning, and is almost unusable in the evenings when I return from work. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
