MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Youtube is now dead. Pretty unimpressive performance overall the last few weeks.

I'm tired of this crap now! We've all been complaining about Youtube for the past few weeks - and we've been doing it in a polite manner! However the issues still continue and Mweb seem to give a damn! Can we all be wrong about this?

We've given the details you've asked for MwebGuy - now they're being added to a list! Do you guys plan on doing anything with the list? Do you have a time frame in which this issue is to be resolved? Any feedback from your engineers? You know at least tell us something to let us know MWEB are taking us frikking seriously and attempting to resolve the issue. We are in the dark for a while now and it ain't cool. Just because its Youtube, doesn't mean it ain't important to us - in fact it is a huge part of the uncapped experience for most guys who really use the internet!

I mean do you guys actually want us to leave your ISP so you can thin out your network and reduce usage? Do you have enough mom/pop usage on the uncapped network now, so you can get rid of more intensive bandwidth users thereby helping the bottom-line? I've been a huge Mweb supporter since you guys "Freed the Web" but the latest service levels have not been up to your previous standards.

Anything going on? Browsing is hell since last night, takes minutes for sites to open.

Are Mweb perhaps renting space from MTN? I believe MTN clients are squealing too. Is it coincidental that this has been happening in the month that Mweb launch their new cheaper uncapped products? Did they take something away from premium clients to give to the rest? Or did they simply not anticipate the impact I wonder.

Before I moved to MWEB I tested the trial account, was awesome great speeds on everything. Now I sign up and my p2p downloads don't download. Thinking of going back to #&@host:mad:

All I need is an answer, why?

Try turning off your router for awhile. I tested an Openweb account for 2 days and after that it seems that I was put on a different part of the network, not sure what exactly but, now I connect to all the trackers as usual again.

MWEB guy, maybe you should post the reply here and not in a PM. I believe it is applicable to all MWEB users.

It will boil down to: Our policy is to do nothing about P2P as speeds are not guaranteed.

+1

Speeds like this is why I am leaving Mweb. It is 1 thing to have occasional slow connectivity, but when I am paying for a premium service (more than any other ISP) and I can't even stream YouTube on 720 or 480, I really feel like I am being ripped off.

Cancelled both my 1mb data accounts. On a 2mb line with a 1mb data package I couldn't get more than 50kb/s streaming from various sites until 11pm.

Skype has been problematic for the past 3 weeks and online gaming is a definite no go. Rubberbanding like crazy whilst on other accounts it's flawless.

Going to a 2mb package from Telkom and save R30.

Hi,

Slow speeds with almost everything, email slow, downloads. Videos in Steam never play correctly, Windows Updates take forever, drivers from Nvidia download at 20kb/s. This is with a 4mb account. Speed test shows no problems? Telkom have checked my line, they have reset the port, still the same issues. So much for a premium account. Telkom cannot be any worse than this and R200 cheaper.

I have unplugged the router, nothing seems to improve the situation. Even Steam game updates, are extremely slow, and I have set the download server to Mweb CPT, so this is a local download.

Mweb Guy, what on earth is going on? Paying R500+ for a premium service and I can't stream YouTube at 360p.

I've been having problems lately as well. I moved over to Mweb from Axxess (their move to the MTN network was a disaster for me) and until 2 weeks ago I was very happy. Now I am getting strange Skype problems, slow YouTube streaming and problems playing games online (I am an avid Battlefield 3 player on PC). A friend of mine who is also on Mweb just asked me to do a Pingtest (pingtest.net) which I did, we both get a Line Quality rating of D. See here: http://www.pingtest.net/result/77996029.png

We live in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town. Any idea as to why this is happening and perhaps when these problems will be resolved?

Mweb guy, dude, I know how it works.

You taking the pain here and more senior management not really taking it seriously cos it's not classified as a "class 1 / severity 1"

You need to bypass some channels and ensure it lands on the desk of an executive

Where is Will@mweb? Maybe he can escalate better

Jeez, I've been with Mweb since before the "big, black box" and a combo of the high price, YouTube and Skype issues are finally going to kick me out of my comfort zone.

Don't know if you have a wife and kids, but believe me when I say a combination of wife and 13 y/o daughter complaining about 'the internet" is no fun

PS - tell the guys to break out the wireshark and start sniffing hard - and put the best guys on it, hell, get your infrastructure vendors to start looking and sniffing - escalate until you have the right level of expertise.

Or......

Don't - hell, maybe mweb won't even feel the effect of a few geeks leaving but we have friends and family members who believe us when we recommend services - the effect will be felt eventually

I'll pay Mweb 60 bucks a month to keep my email address, but more of this and I will move the adsl portion - your overall value proposition is nowhere near as compelling as it was a couple of years ago.

I moved over to Afrihost from Mweb when Afrihost had their disastrous move to a new network. So was all too happy to move back to Mweb. And now this. Kill me, kill me now.

Edit: Opened an image just now and it loaded like back in the 56K days. I couldn't help but to crack a smile.

Dunno whats wrong but for the past week ive been getting really slow speeds on my 4MB line can't stream 360p youtube videos anymore.. getting a lot of lag spikes in league of legends... im no expert on this so ive tried restarting my router checking the cables everything seems to be in check... but im only getting 50-100kb/s HTTP dl speeds so no clue whats going on?

Last night and today my browsing speeds have dropped to waiting literally minutes for single sites to load (not doing anything else). Online gaming pings are insane and unplayable. Never really had trouble like this till last night, is something wrong?

Also had to wait 30 min + for a 20 odd minute 240p video to load on Youtube. Not normal

I'm on 1mb uncapped.

Well guys only solution is to cancel and try a different ISP. Premium in South Africa seems to have a different definition to the rest of the world. How can a 24MB Windows update take 2hours to download on a 4mb line??
