MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Its a Dlink DSL 2500U. Currently no DSL or Internet lights on. Only power and LAN on with Status flashing. Can you do a check to see if anything is wrong? My line is still with Mweb.

Edit : DSL is back up now, seems to have been a Telkom glitch.

Explain this, why am I throttled? I have only need on standard since 3 three days ago and my monthly usage is no where near 110GB...

ADSL seems to be down in Stellenbosch. Area 021 889 can anyone confirm if they have the same issue in Stellenbosch?

Hi Rouxenator

As mentioned in previous communication; it's a 30 day rolling window. Also you went from a Premium ( Higher threshold ) to Standard ( Lower threshold )

Please see in screen shot usage for the last 30 days.

That does not make sense, if you change package the rolling window should start from the day of change.

Well it is still unfair in my case because now the 220Gb I did while on Premium will make my first two weeks of Standard unusable.

Edit : Or have it percentage based.

I tested the free Afrihost account. I get 200kbs average.

Mweb is definitely the issue.

Which is the the best 1mb(2mbps?) uncapped deal at the moment?

I sympathize with you Roux. I'd expect take effect at the end of the 30-day to avoid such a situation, while upgrade quotas are pro rated too.

If they wanted to be fair then your [-]cap[/-] threshold should be percentage based. For example I was at 216gb of 400gb which is 54% usage.

When going down to Standard I would still be on 54% usage but what it boils down to is instead of being 184gb from the [-]cap[/-] threshold I am now only 50GB from it.

Same goes when you upgrade from Standard to Premium, it should be percentage based.

But its too late now, Mweb lost everything they had 3 years ago. Just like back in the dial-up days, they were the best and then they became the worse.

Hi AntiMiracleMan

Sorry for that, it was not my intention to do so.

Is there still a chance of you forgiving me and me assisting you?

Im a rational thinking person and was probably in a state of mine of just being pissed off... So lets try this again.. I have a 2mb Premium account, If you look at my account you will notice that i only use +-70 -90 gig on a 30 day running period. I also have a 4mb telkom account, but am also experiencing problems with them between 9 and 10Pm as far as international video streaming. At this stage i have the 2 accounts to test which one i ultimately will end up staying with. I appreciate that fact that i can phone mweb and within 5 minutes sort out an ISP related issue.. On the other hand i dont like holding an hour and a half on a phone to speak to a useless Telkom emplyee that doesnt know jack! So what threshold limit can i expect on the R239 Standard uncapped mweb account... I feel the R539 per month for 4mb premium is a bit too much... as the Telkom 4mb account does give me similar ammount in gig as the premium mweb. What ammount of data can i expect on 4mb standard account and is there any additional throtteling on the standard vs premium 4mb accounts ?

o and does it make sence to maybe look at the 6mb normal account based on that fact that i would be able to get more downloaded before being throttled...

Hi AntiMiracleMan

Thank you for the feedback.
The 2mbps standard account threshold is about 70gb and the standard 4mbps around 110gb.
If you'd like to move to the 6mbps account, you can let me know and I can arrange for a consultant to contact you.

Thanks Piesang. I dont think on 2mbps i ever went more than 100gig... but with 4mb and streaming. i am worried that if i do watch a game or 2 or steam video that i might overshoot that... Video streaming does look at your bandwith and then adjust the bitrate.. which in return makes your data more... do they say somewhere what to expect from 6mb standard account ?

MWEB ####ING SUCKS! IT DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE TO BE CALLED AN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER. IF YOU HAVE ANY SELF-RESPECT, UPGRADE TO A BETTER ISP.
