MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Think our FON router just died sync speeds dropped and now it's Power is On and Power Light is On but all other lights off... seems dead..

Morning BigBear

Are you still having issues with the router? Are you able to connect with another router?

What is the range of the FOn router?, will my Cellphone pick it up say 30m away?

Morning Lament

The range of the FON router is about 15-20m in direct line of sight.

Better, but still...

Absolute crap speeds here in Rynfield, Benoni. Max download speeds maybe hitting 20kb/s... :/

Tech support is also pretty dense and calling them doesn't help.

Thank you, so i can put the extender lets say 15m away, how far does the extender extend the range?
What exactly is the point of the FON then if it only picks up 15m ?, that does not even cover my house, how is anyone else outside going to connect to it?

Quickly look at the pic im uploading, will this work?, or does all the extenders have to be in range of the actual Router?

The FON router will act as a 'hotspot' for the FON network so that our FON subscribers can connect to the network if they pick it up. The extender will add an additional range cover for the signal.

Morning AVX

Please PM the MWEB email address or username so that I can have a look from our side as to what could be causing these speeds.

I get this, just don't really see the use for it if the range is so small, other FON members will literally have to climb over my wall to connect to the FON network,
Probably much better for people living in flats and such.
I also know what an extender is, did you look at the photo?, im asking A) How many meters does the Extender give me, B)Can a Extender extend the range from a other extender (as in the picture)

We based this information on a residential area.

I looked at the picture and the extender can extend the range from another extender.

Another question,
The 2mb uncapped is throttled at 70gb's correct?, what about the 4mb? 140gbs?
And if this is correct, instead for paying R200, i cab pay R230 for the 4mb account (on my 2mb line), get double the bandwidth, and because its a 4mb account, i assume the shaping will also be better than with a 2mb account on a 2mb line?

Yes theres no reason why not

I got a question, what are the premium uncapped throttle caps?

This past two days my FON router keeps dropping the wifi connection.

Any idea what the problem can be?

Afternoon, the router isn't dropping connection (loose sync) however the wifi connection drops?
