Why not test using a trail account, we cannot guarantee torrents speeds; as there are other factors that impact on them.

The package you are looking at is 2 completely different packages. The 1Mb is a Premium package and the 2Mb is a Standard package. That is the reason for the lower thredshold limit on the Standard packages.

0.7Mb on a speedtest is on par for the 1Mb package, bear in mind this is an up to 1Mb service.

Well MWEB guy ...FACT.....MWEB's service is not up to standard. Thats why I'm did my research and will be moving over to better ISP ...AFRIHOST

Be careful; Afrihost are not as good as they once were. I was with Mweb for a long time, moved to Afrihsoit Business Uncapped, downloads are great, but watching any videos online never works. All ISPs have issues, there seems to not be one that has a reallty decent service, they all lack in one department.

Seems like lots of problems on mweb. Was considering getting mweb uncapped especially for the Fon wifi . Opinions as to what's my options? Cost is a big factor so considering getting a 2meg line.

Evening, why not test our network with a trial account and make an informed decision.

Let me know if you are willing to explore this option

Why am I getting sporadic packet loss to any website? ( Local or International, even www.mweb.co.za ).

My friends and I are having the same issues ( Bellville Area ). I even swapped out my modem. I am using a 2Mbit Uncapped Premium account - I've checked my usage and it's not even 25GB yet. I have briefly been trying to find similar reports on the Internet, but could only find Axxess making a note of too high a demand for uncapped or something of the sorts. Here's the link ( https://www.axxess.co.za/networkstatus ).

Here's a ticket ref I posted to Mweb Technical: CAS-2458646-87MWFY, I haven't had any replies on that one yet. ( Posted Sunday morning. Maybe I'll get one tomorrow. )

Thumbs up for Mweb's uncapped, it's been great all round. Just this issue which I don't think is just Mweb...

This is funny, I am in the 384kbps throttle range with my 2mb standard. my internet browsing during the day is a bad experience. I'm constantly refreshing sites that dont load on first try. Since someone is mentioning packetloss I believe that is what is happening to me as well. But I thought it is because of the throttling...

So what is funny, even though throttled I still manage to download about 30gb over the throttle mark. It is as if the throttling is not really an issue on downloads. Just the constant dead sites is bad for browsing. Also you cant youtube while throttled.



But Im trying to upgrade my line and account to 4mb premuim.

For what its worth. While we were on Afrihost uncapped, I could always watch Youtube on their 1mb uncapped.

This is a bad idea. Use a scheduler to download after 12am. Much more seeds online as other SA peers use schedulers. Though with mweb you can download during day but slower than usual. Afrihost shape them to death. But I have no problem with Afrihosts method.

Well currently with Afrihost I do not have to schedule anything, I can download 24/7 at full speed (I am on Business Uncapped, my issue is other things like video streaming do not work, and this is when I am not downloading anything.
 
Tried the test account, streaming works 100%, downloaded a torrent at 100%, but then Steam has download issues (this is even after I have set the Steam download server to be Cape Town - Mweb). This was the same issue I had years ago when I used to use Mweb. Nothing seems to have improved.
 
Hi, I seem to be having problems with the FON router, when plugged in it keeps switching the adsl account to some account that starts with a number. After this when trying to access the internet I get a screen which says max concurrent connections hit. I have tried a soft reset, entering the account details manually, but it keeps switching. Any ideas?
