Afternoon, you are still connecting with the same IP as you were when the outage occurred.

Please either change your username realm on your router interface to @dslmweb.co.za or switch the router off for more than 5min.

Morning confusion

Please reboot the router for about 5-10 minutes. Things have been resolved from our side.

So I turned everything off and then restarted my entire house in sequence. While I can now open certain pages they are still really slow. Other sites, including the MWeb homepage (?!) never load.

On this basis I must dispute your statement about things being resolved.

Evening, the outage has definitely been resolved.

Your line readings show a high attenuation reading 57dB.

I have now recreated your port, please reboot the router and let me know if that helps.

That finally fixed it. Thanks Mweb guy!

Many thanks, I will give telkom a call. Might be best for me to just downgrade to 2 mbps.

The international problem seems to be back again. Sites loading forever, massive latency, etc etc. Exactly the same as the other day.

All other accounts are fine

Afternoon Mephisto_Helix

We have no reported International outages today.

Please let me know what you are experiencing

Internet is so slow that I can't even perform the saix.net speed test. Ping is sending but the download test can't be performed and I get an error message ("Download test returned an error while trying to read the download file"). If websites open at all it takes them 5-10 minutes to load.

Last test I could perform this morning was:

Download Speed: 506 kbps (63.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 422 kbps (52.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 24 ms

No internet for 2 weeks and now it is slow as a snail... Could I please get a feedback why my internet connection is so damn slow and what MWEB intends to solve this problem?! It doesn't help me if this information is just added to my open case and nobody ever gets back to me. I know it is not your fault, MWEB guy, so excuse me that I am getting impatient and frustrated, but you need to understand that I can't wait any longer! I need to work here...

Cape Town, ref no: 1462222

Afternoon, I have added the results on the open Telkom fault.

The last feedback we received from them is that the Tech may still be busy at the exchange. No confirmation if they found any fault.

We are still offline. 18 days and counting... How long is this supposed to go on like this? MWeb calls me every day (or I call them), telling me that there was a technician assigned but nobody knows when exactly the problem will be solved. I hear these excuses for two weeks already and the situation is still the same: my internet is not working.

I take it your 'ADSL line' is with MWEB?

Do you have a phone on your telephone line? Do you use it? Is it crystal clear, or is it noisy?

Results:
Download Speed: 1132 kbps (141.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 337 kbps (42.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 451 ms
Jitter: 84 ms

Nice Download speed. If only it was reflected during normal usage. Latency makes it seem really REALLY slow.

Mweb Guy can add that to my open fault if he wants :P
Mweb are great with the communication.
Telkom still can't tell me anything, but Mweb tell me my fault will be fixed by the end of the week.

Don't let Telkom make MWEB look bad. Make sure its your ISP before you blame your ISP.

Yes, I have a ADSL rental line + data package with MWEB. And no, I don't have a phone. So I can't check it... :(

You need to get one, plug it in and listen for noise. If it isn't crystal clear, or if you have no dial tone, you have a line fault. Which is great, because then you can report it direct to Telkom, and they seem to give priority to voice line faults. Once these are resolved, ADSL issues normally resolve too.

Your problem must be with Telkom, as you are probably aware.

Hi, has this improved ?

Was out of the house pretty early so I didn't have time to check. On startup I couldn't connect at all. The DNS setting was in Automatic from ISP. Once I changed my DNS to 8.8.8.8 some packets came trickling in. Painfully slow.
