MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hey there MWEB Guy! Youtube refuses to stream and videos do not buffer at all. Facebook along with the chat feature keeps on timing out. International pages take forever to load and when they do photos and text stuff load half way.

In Guild Wars 2, I am now sitting with a constant ping of 1629ms. In APB Reloaded my ping has gone from 120ms to an insane 1350ms. In Smite my ping bounces from 922-2147ms.

Speedtests done to Telkom leave me with a ping of 147ms. It used to be 60-70ms at the most. Speedtests done to MWEB and MTN leave me with a ping of 328ms. Download and Upload speeds are fine.

I've been trying to phone Telkom to get them to look at my Exchange - I gave up after being on hold for 20 minutes. :(

HELP!

Hi Schitzo

I refreshed your account and also see you syncing on 6MB. You not the first person who is syncing on 6MB to mention connectivity issues.

I will advise trying to get hold of Telkom and let them do checks on your line.

Hi roligov

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll look into it for you.

Thanks, but I've looked in the MyAccount section and it says "Throttled" so I guess this is expected performance. I've already started the move away from Mweb.

Here were my Bandwidth total btw:
336GB this month.
420GB 30 days rolling.

I wouldn't even feature on the leaderboard at Afrihost: http://www.afrihost.com/site/page/uncapped_adsl_leader_board

It was fun while it lasted.

FYI: I was on the "Premium Uncapped ADSL" for R539.

Well all I did to test was open a stream and try watch it and it lagged quite horribly. If you have a suggestion of what to test and how to do it let me know because I keep getting this problem.

I don't think the line speed is the problem right now. I don't have problems with anything really except for twitch.tv streams

Can I maybe get a response too Mweb guy?

Thanks. Where can I read about how throttling is implemented?

The 1mbps Uncapped and Premium Uncapped ADSL accounts (http://www.mweb.co.za/adsl) are the same price... ?

Throttling is implemented on a 30 day rolling window period, its not based on month to month. You can also read more about things on our AUP.

Correct, we don't have a Standard 1Mb uncapped package. The 1Mb package is the same across the board.

Hi dasco144

Sorry for responding now. As you mentioned, everything else is working for you, its just twitch.tv.

Are you having similar issues on another connection?

Well I have an Afrihost account and there is not lag there.

What's the limit? :)

Thanks for the reply and link. The word "throttle" does not appear anywhere on the AUP page though :)

If the "1Mb package is the same across the board", does that mean that there is no throttling on 1mbps accounts?

Afrihost kills with shaping.. I'm on 78 gigs on a 4mb uncapped package and I am been shaped to 18% normal downloads and 6% P2P... I was easily doing 120 with MWEB.. If you consider moving, rather go to Openweb or Webafrica. I'm now having second thoughts about sh*t. Kinda miss MWEB!..

Oh cool they now show the rolling 30 day value.. nice, removes the unknown factor which annoyed me tons as then don't know how to manage usage especially when your avg monthly is okish but sudden need to download lots push u over. Already cancelled though.. Will try some others and then see what to do.

Throttling does apply to the 1Mbps packages as well.

What speed? I assume 4M?

Look at this! Very tempting!

Does throttling apply to Premium packages, because we've just determined that the normal 1mbps uncapped is the same as the premium 1mbps uncapped.

Edit: Ok, sorry, getting confused. I see how it works. I thought the Premium accounts were not throttled at all.

So, which accounts are NOT throttled?

Standard = Premium = Small Business: Same ****, different ripoffs.

Plug, Openweb, Afrihost, WebAfrica, TI ?

@Crowley, @Necuno :)

I haven't been monitoring this thread for months... so all of MWEB's ADSL accounts are now thottled, but they don't reveal the threshold? :wtf:
