MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Yes you are right. I doubt your numbers through and believing what Mweb Guy says, well if that is your source then...
But I would hazard a guess that the number is relatively low at this stage but definately not as low as 0.5 of their customer base which is 350 customers. If only 350 customers can cripple your infrastructure then boy are you in trouble. Also Mweb Guy himself has pointed out those that have exited from Mweb have impacted negatively on other ISPs which again would indicate the number is alot higher than 0.5%

Evening, the numbers provided was accurate at the time.

Also note that our network is way bigger than that, not sure where you obtained the 350 customers.

Time for you to move on, I'm tired of having to defend myself to the likes of yourself. If you've failed to comprehend any of my previous posts on this matter I would suggest going back to school alternatively go find somewhere else to troll.

In reality you are trolling this thread with the most posts as you agreed to just now, shilling for Mweb or at least aspiring to be an Mweb shiller in the hope of gaining something from them I presume!

So Steam data from the local steam servers count against this rolling limit? Why should I use the local servers to download stuff then? I'm downloading a game right now (selected Sweden) and all my Steam connections are now international. Speed is maxed out. I've never got warned or throttled (50GB average per month for more than a year now), but this month Steam might just do it. Might as well make the most of it?

base on 70000 customer base if it is more then you can increase the number still not a big number. :)

I thibk its around 300 000, maybe even more, but when you dont invest in your network and don't manage it properly then everyone becomes an abuser, regardless of the size of the subscriber base.

+1

Every ISP worldwide manages their network in some way.

Just to inject some positivity into this thread, I'm currently on a 1Mbps trial account and I must say that my ADSL connection has never worked this great before. I can get full speed on my downloads, even international downloads. Web browsing now finally works at a decent speed. Youtube finally plays without buffering for 5 minutes per minute of video. The only negative thing I can say is that it seems that torrents are throttled during day time, but at least they run at full speed during the night.

Previously someone asked how other ISPs can afford not throttling their customers when Mweb can't - well, there isn't a single ISP in South Africa that doesn't throttle their uncapped customers. Some will claim that they don't throttle, but they simply redefine the words to mean something else than they do. With my previous ISP I was throttled 24/7 even though I averaged 40GB per month on a 4Mbps account...

Well keep it below 100GB on the 1mbps and you should be okay.

Well, I actually have a 2Mbps ADSL line currently (and plan to stay with that - not that I will have any choice once Telkom effectuates its upgrades), so my final account (if I choose to stay with Mweb) will be a 2Mbps account. Unfortunately Mweb only offers 1Mbps and 4Mbps trial accounts, so I chose to go with the 1Mbps so I could get a feel for how well it performs compared to the advertised speed. But the funny thing is that even though this is only a 1Mbps account, it performs MUCH better than my 2Mbps uncapped account with my previous ISP did.

Not wanting to burst your bubble, and honestly this is really not a dig at mweb this time but all ISPs. Trial accounts are used to advertise a product to a new customer, an ISP would have to be filled with idiots for you to get anything but the best service on a trial account. So take those fantastic speeds with a pinch of salt. And for everyones sake if you are going to sign on the dotted line make sure you get the Premium package and not the standard. The one is for gaming and the other is not :)

I am well aware that it's obviously a marketing move, and as such, I'm going to be seeing the best possible from Mweb on that trial account. I am in no way under any illusions about that. But I've also tried trial accounts from different ISPs, and they haven't performed as well as Mweb's trial account has so far.

I'm also completely in the clear about that, but thanks :) As for whether or not I will end up signing up with Mweb, that's a decision I haven't made yet. So far they've offered the best performance I've seen, but they're also the most expensive. If money was no issue, I'd sign up with Mweb right away. In the end I guess it (obviously) becomes a choice of paying more for better service, or paying less and expecting (and getting) worse service.

Whatever you do don't download more than 3.3 GB a day or you will be sorry. Being throttled by Mweb is the worst throttling in SA, maybe even in the world- I know damn straight about being throttled for almost a week. Internet is obviously useless, can't even do a search with google. Just a warning :)

Afternoon GreatD7007, your account is now reflecting that the throttling has been lifted.
