MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hey Mweb Guy

I phoned in last week to drop my account to a 1gig capped account however the debit order went off at the full R369 not the R29 it should be, please could you check my account and refund the extra if you can asap.

Hi, I will escalate this to our specialists to investigate.

Can anything be done about this? I too have been billed for my uncapped fee when I've downgraded to the 1GB account.

Also how do I switch this cap booster or any OOB bundle activity off via my Mweb control panel? I want 1GB capped & that is it!

Hi, I will arrange for our billing specialists to have a look into this for you.

In order to change that setting you will need to log onto myaccount.mweb.co.za

Then click on "ADSL" and you can change it there

MWEB Guy, why are there two 1meg uncapped account options: One Throttled and one unthrottled, but both cost the same? And why, then, am I on a throttled account when there is an unthrottled account for the same price?

Hi, we only have 1 1Mb product and that is R199 data only and R339 all inclusive.

According to your website there are 2 1meg uncapped accounts: one Throttled and one unthrottled:

False advertising is illegal right?

I guarantee you that we only have the 1 1Mb account at R339 all inclusive.

Also starting from today, excessive usage on our premium products will cause customers to receive warnings and may even get throttled.

I know this, and you know I know this as I am a Mweb customer, but anybody who wants to join Mweb does not, so fix the packages description on the website or Mweb will be reported to ASSA for falsely advertising 1meg uncapped without the full information, i.e that it is a throttled account. Thanks. Yes I am being bitchy, but find it hilarious that all previous unthrottled 1meg accounts are throttled without a decrease in the price. I know you are probably a mid level dude, and as such me getting angry at you is an effort in futility, but please tell the higher ups that they suck. Have a good night.

MWEB Guy, why do I have this?

You have used 3 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 01 September, 2013, 08:50:16
Connection status: Unthrottled

I'm on the ADSL-AI UC +4096 R899 product.

I'm on the ADSL-AI UC +4096 R899 product.

Hi, that states how much you have used thus far for the month and it's saying your connection is not throttled at this point.

Hi,

I never had the bolded bit before in August etc. It seems some people still don't have it.

Just to clarify, on the MWEB web page, the non premium accounts clearly state there can and will be throttling if necessary. The premium accounts make no mention of throttling. Are you clearly stating that the same principle applies for the premium?

If so, why not state so clearly? Then also what is the difference between the 2 products??

Standard products are more affordable and aimed at the casual uncapped user, with a
lower throttled rate.

Our premium products have more relaxed speed limits and these will only be applied
when usage reaches levels which we deem to be abusive. The parameters for
bandwidth management are more lenient on our Premium Products and will only affect a
very small percentage of our customers.

This is likely due to us enforcing our AUP starting from today

I didn't get any email about downloading too much.

OK, kindly explain procedure for

1. Moving line back to Telkom.
2. Changing account to 1GB capped account.
3. Setting 1GB account so as to avoid your out-of-bundle rates.

I assume I can continue to use my email account on that 1GB package. Thanks.

Yet the 1mb package still shows as unthrottled via the premium tab...i.e False advertising.

That is the jist of the call for a consumer boycott and the complaint - can you please post a link or screen shot. If it is currently the case then that really helps in the good fight.

See my previous posts, on the normal uncapped ADSL tab on the 1mbps option click the ("see full spec"), and you get all the info for the package, i.e shaped and throttled line. Then go to the uncapped premium tab, under the same 1mbps option click "see full spec" and there it says it is a shaped line, but no mention of it being a throttled line. My previous post has a screen shot of what I'm talking about. Not sure its false advertising, but they are definitely advertising 2 1mbps packages, one stating it is throttled and the other not stating it is/is not throttled.
