MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

@pansyfoot thanks for that - I downloaded those specs as webpages and the wonderful DESCRIPTION is given in the files:
"Get your premium uncapped, unthrottled ADSL for home use at MWEB today"
So MWEB has now got an indicator in their control panel to tell users if they are throttled on an unthrottled product

I think they are going to start needing to get their tjekboek out because tenacious customers ability to demand a refund has just doubled.

Hi Sneeky

I have logged your query with our specialist to look into and contact you.
You should receive a call later today with some feedback.

Thanks MWEB Guy
I missed the call earlier, if you can ask them to call me back tomorrow that will be great or supply me a ref no, then i will call them.

This may be helpful.

I have a 1MB account. Have not got that third line in MyADSL which says whether I am throttled or not. So probably 1MB is just shaped, must be a mistake on the website as the same offering is listed as both Premium and normal.

Funny that hey? Change the game and quickly like a skelm the print. Well where they remembered ;)

Adiós MwebGuy and co. Officially used up my last 1GB and changed my ISP details in modem to Afrihost. It was good while it lasted until about June somewhere when instead of upgrading your oversold network you decided to Fsck everyone around by slowing their premium accounts down yet still charged at the higher price.

Bye, No more Mweb for me, EVER, unless you change your draconian stance and compete with others. After so many years I am rid of Mweb.

Now just confirm by saying GOOD RIDDANCE :D

/Signing out of the Mweb fiasco and BS thread.

Hiya MWEB Guy

Hope you are well. Please could you reauth for me / look into my 1Mbit account?

Hi PostmanPot

As per your request, I have re-authed the account. Please keep me posted and updated.

Will you get a warning before you are throttled, or will you just wake up one day and find that you are throttled? Thinking about doing some heavy downloads, games, but it would kind of suck if I get throttled tomorrow or Wednesday or so and then have to live with throttling for the rest of the month.
If the 2Mbps premium account gets throttled, to what will it be throttled? 1Mbps? 512Kbps? 56Kbps...?

Liek I said before. if they throttle me I will just go for 10mb/s Afrihost business account.

Hi HelterSkelter

You can monitor your usage via My Account and it will show if you are being speed limited or not. Throttling will be done over a 30 day rolling window, in which you either continue being speed limited or it is lifted.

Yes...very simple to understand...BUT...too what are you being throttled? Or is this like a lucky packet where you don't know if you will be halved or quartered?

So what you saying is you can be throttled for one month and another month not. So if I for once downloaded to much this month and then the next month I would be throttled. Can anyone enlighten me how other ISP's work regarding throttling?

Standard products are more affordable and aimed at the casual uncapped user, with a
lower throttled rate.

Our premium products have more relaxed speed limits and these will only be applied
when usage reaches levels which we deem to be abusive. The parameters for
bandwidth management are more lenient on our Premium Products and will only affect a
very small percentage of our customers.

Fluck this... How the hell will I know if I am suddenly throttled, Do I have to check each day or every 30 days?
Now I see we are all no longer equal as well. The irony of Afihost advertising Unlimited Data, fixed pricing and No Throttling on the advert on the banner above where I am writing this is not lost on me.
Firstly it was stated only those that recieved letter and now it is now a built in bolt on to the contract. I am cancelling my contract. Sorry guys you lost me at having to log in to see if I was being throttled and the 30 day window ****e. Even though the chance of me actually being throttled is remote, it is just the general attitude of Mweb that sucks.

@Nelis - it's pretty simple. They don't :whistle:

They have other methods in place to handle excessive network strain, but non involve cutting your speed due to your download amount.

Just make your life easier and use a different ISP !

"billing specialist" Hahahaha The fact that you need them and not simple accounts people tells me a bucketload more people than you thought have taken their leave ....

Things that Mweb should've done from day1. They where doing it at first but lately I've been getting almost full speed on my 4mb/s line during the day on a shaped account. Now they going to throttle us due to their own stupidity. I don't mind being throttled to about 10-20KB/s on torrent or any P2P protocol. As long as my streaming etc etc is good and my steam, origin, etc etc downloads are fine and I don't have to worry about getting throttled.

I'm starting to like Afrihost a bit more and might even cancel soon. I don't like the idea of having to watch that I don't download to much etc etc. I think we going to have a bit more traffic in the coming months due to games coming out and next gen consoles.

funny thing isnt it, you have to monitor your download. how exactly without knowing the treshold.?

Just out of curiosity... Anyone else maybe picked up errors like this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/107666182/Screen Shot 2013-09-02 at 2.12.46 PM.png on their mweb usage reports? Apparently I did over 300GB in ONE day back in 2012. I know it's an old date, just curious if other users see this in more recent reports. Wont this mistake made by mweb affect throttling/abuse letters? This obviously pushes the monthly usage to ridiculous numbers. This is on a 4Mbps premium uncapped package from mweb.
