Me to, they were awesome at one stage but they just stopped. They shape p2p to absolute nothing, I get max 50 60 KBs on a 1Mb uncapped account. And my gaming is ****, such high latency and I get shot so quickly in COD- I have no chance for survival due to such high latencies. They say there gaming is prioritized but that absolute c***, it's also so heavily shaped even on premium accounts :( ai I can't believe this ISP has gone to the dogs :( it saddens me a great deal as they were a great ISP but now they taking a quick buck and not providing optimal Internet. It's definitely not the Internet upgraded, it's more the Internet downgraded :(

Hey Mweb Guy I'm unable to connect to the internet, my line is fine, just the mweb side is not working

Hi 325i

I checked the account and it all seems in order, I can't see anything that would cause you not to connect.
Just as a test, are you able to connect using the Telkom guest account?

Anyone else experiencing issues downloading from news.mweb.co.za? Yesterday it was dreadfully slow, today it's completely dead. Spoke to the guys at MWEB, they tested from their side and could not download from this server either.

Same problem here - all the connections time out. I was using 196.28.78.229 for months, and it stopped working. Set it to news.mweb.co.za yesterday, but still no joy. Also changed my username (from dslmweb.co.za to mweb.co.za) and no effect, it was still timing out. I thought it was just me.

also having issues from this morning

mines isnt working from 12 last night

Pretty widespread issue with the news server it seems ......

I am aware that there seems to be a an issue with the JHB news server as reported by clients.
I know that our engineers were looking into it and they are still running test.
As soon as I receive any feedback I'll let you know.

@Mweb Guy, nope still no connection

So no connection with the guest account either?
If that's the case then the problem is most likely line related and you'd need to contact Telkom so they can check it out.

Shweet, much thanks!

The guest account is [email protected], guest?
Other than that, have had no connection since this afternoon.

EDIT: Seems to be intermittent connectivity, if it starts again must I log a fault with Telkom, or with Mweb?

I had the same issue on Monday night. Tried my Afrihost & Telkom test account and they both sat at Connecting...

I then SMS'd my phone number to the Telkom Fault SMS line 30591 and it was resolved a few hours later.

If it's intermittent I'd still suggest having a fault logged, even test with another router if possible.
It could also be the router.

MWEB ISP CEO Derek Hershaw said that they will be releasing information about the ADSL speed upgrades and related pricing early this week.

I hope he takes onto account the speed DOWNGRADES when throttling kicks in, because a faster line means more data consumption which means more ABUSERS.....

I am still left wondering what the underlying goal was/is.

If it was to get the customer to upgrade to a premium account it is clearly evident that those accounts also have "thresholds", albeit slightly higher that the "normal" uncapped accounts. A marginal increase in that (non-disclosed, remember) "threshold" at best.

No, imho, I think that it is a case where someone took it upon himself to say: "Screw you Customer. Get in line with what I prescribe or else begone with you!" without realising, nor understanding, the impact that this decision would have on his customers. A clear case of shooting yourself in both feet.

And as for the 30-day rolling window ... I paid for a MONTHLY service, and expected to be treated accordingly.

All these "measures" introduced under the guise of their AUP without prior notification to their paying customers.

All-in-all I want to thank that person as I am now experiencing the internet as if I were at MWeb before this idiot took over ...

Excellent speeds whatever I decide to do: browse, download, streaming video/radio, upload, torrents, you name it. The ISP shapes the traffic as they see fit and I do not monitor my usage. I am not affected, nor (heaven forbid) throttled.

Will MWeb ever get "The Abusers" back? That remains to be seen ... as the way I see it, more and more customers are experiencing these new "measures" and they will vote with their wallets!
