MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

so what is the threshold of Standard 2M and Premium 1M?
currently, is it all 1M account is premium? in other words, do Mweb have "standard 1M"?

Hi DreamKing

There is no 1Mb Standard package. The threshold on the 2Mb Standard package is roughly 70Gb in the 30 day rolling window period. The Standard packages have a lower threshold than the Premium packages.

The threshold on the 1Mb Premium package is around 100GB.

Not possible to upgrade from 4MB to 6MB Uncapped?!

I've done a quick search and can't seem to find a thread/post on this:
I've tried to upgrade my current 4MB Premium Uncapped to the 6MB account using the MWEB Customer Portal but it seems that's not possible: "Regrettably this product is not available to existing customers. Please call us on 087 700 5000 for assistance."

WTF?!

Good job at screwing your existing customers MWEB!

Hi HorusZA

This package is available to existing customer. PM me the details so that I can arrange for this to be done.

so if I used more than the threshold, does that mean I can't do anything afterward? Or does that mean I can't download anything but I still can use for browsing?

Hi MWeb Guy I was under the impression the 1Mbps premium speeds do not get increased to 2Mbps. However I am getting close to 2Mbps when doing speed tests.

That means the account will be throttled until the usage drops to within the approx thresholds on the accounts.

I am not really understand that how it works. Can you explain it in details?
but what can I do during "throttling", can I still browsing normally? can I still download (in slower speed, how slow)?

I am interested, what are users reduced to when throttled? In kbps.

Basically, when the account is throttled, the line speed will be limited. To get the limiting lifted will depend on how you use the account. The less you use, the sooner the limiting will be lifted.

So what is the speed if it was throttled? (for a 1M account)
so if I stop to use for 2 days, then will you stop the throttling? Or can you give me the details what is "less use"? (Use one hour a day for how long?)

At the end of the day, try to manage the account so that it doesn't get throttled.

If an account is throttled, that means you have gone over the threshold. Once that usage has dropped below the threshold amount, then the limiting be lifted and the speeds will be fine again.

Either way, you only pay R199 per month. Worth a try...
Excellent suggestion.
@Mwebguy, when will this be available on myaccount to switch between the two?

BUMP

you can't tell us what is the threshold amount? secret? fine.

can I say that, if I was over the limit on the first day, I stop use it on the second day, then on the third day the speed will back to normal. am I correct? :)

Till when is the 087* 700 5000 number open until on Fridays?

I provided approx threshold limits earlier. It all depends, the system will inform us and give us an approx when the limiting will be lifted, this is based on usage patterns.

@MWEB Guy- please discuss this issue, i"m not trolling at all, just want some discussion on the marketing strategy

Good luck with that .... I started out trying to get some sense out of MWEB on throttling, and after being ignored and insulted a few times ...I gladly ended up trolling.

Funny thing is I WANT to use MWEB ... but not in its current format with throttling. IMHO they could have come up with a far better solution.

Anyway - good luck, but I think its flogging a dead horse personally.
