MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

I got my new FON router..

Its actually a very nice router.. only disappointment is its says it can only read FAT32 drives, but the spec sheets says optional NTFS..

Mweb Guy does the mweb firmware have support for the optional NTFS?

I'm running an NTFS drive on it with no issue at all. Great NAS.

+ 9999999 I cannot agree any more! I would envy coming back to Mweb but throttling, wtf is Mweb thinking and the CEO... They are killing there reputation and loosing clients. They think more about there profits than actual Users experiences on the network. It's such a sad affair!

Well, you dont need MWEB for a Fon Router ...

They are freely available on the net, thanks to MWEB customers

And this clause in your Ts and Cs is meaningless then VVV

26. If MWEB subsidises the cost of the Fon enabled Router in whole or in part, and you do not use the Fon enabled Router for the MWEB Fon Service, then MWEB reserves the right to collect the Fon enabled Router from you or to recover the cost of the subsidised portion from you.

Lol that's so bad :/

...
Steam download content is also taken into consideration within the throttling threshold.

....

I'm downloading Battlefield 4 right now (~25GB's) from Origin, and I left it running on/off the last 2-3 days. Is the after hours data counted the same as daytime towards the threshold?

Mweb: We are good for emails and light browsing.

And... how would they know this? MWEB-NSA?

So I just got hit with a throttle :/ Stupid 30 days rolling period! So I'm planning on cancelling. What ISP should I go with guys for 4mb?

EDIT: Oh and does the downgrading your uncapped account to a 1gb then cancelling trick still work?

Yes.

First down grade, then cancel, so your notice month is on the lower cost.
Stop order on the MWEB account, and pay cash or EFT for last month.
In that last month do trial accounts with AH Cybersmart or any other willing participant, and if you go OW you get the ballance of the last MWEB month free with OW .... (Remember OW has a months notice too)
OW slow daytime - good after hours. AH - best bet business account with light shaping throughout.
For high blood pressure and just to prove it can get worse - TI. :D

When MWEB changes their throttle policy or Hershaw leaves, we all say sorry and return.

Damn - I miss MWEB, but the adventure thay have created for me looking for another ISP has been a ride ....;)

+ 10 to use Mweb only if you want to access emails and do a little bit of browsing. Any sort of downloading and you will be screwed by the throttle bug :(

I miss MWEB too. I think once Hershaw resigns, and there is no throttling. MWEB will be a happy place

All this is very strange to me. I am downloading (from steam, origin, you name it) at normal speed. I have 4MB uncapped line and I get speeds very close to that on most downloads... That said, I am in a new estate in a relatively new area

I have been an MWeb customer for a no of years. End of Jan I was throttled on an "UNCAPPED" 2mb line:mad:. Needless to say, I will be leaving MWeb as soon as practically possible:D. Possibly moving to Telkom? Any thoughts on Telkom?Usage Summary.JPGUsage Summary 1.jpg

Just my opinion, I have also been with MWeb for years and also experienced issues but i will not be leaving this ISP because i found there technical team to be about the most clued up when it comes to any of the other isp's i deal with, and i have not had an issue yet that MWeb Guy has been unable to assist me with, So for me i would rather have an ISP that can assist me when issues occure than one where you receive no assistance what so ever.

Just my opinion though, each for there own.

Sir all I hope is that you don't get effected by the throttle bug. It's lethal and if you stay away from p2p and limit your bandwidth usage you will be alright but doesn't that not sound like uncapped. For a true Uncapped experience they need to get rid of the throttling system. It's that simple :)

I'm happy for you supafly.

It's just with my experience with MWEB was the opposite and technical support was terrible. My one friend is with MWEB and they couldn't explain why his pings were so high when gaming. They couldn't give an explanation, they left him guessing and basically gave him the door to try a new ISP. Mweb were great, no doubt! Just nowadays they more focused on profits of the business rather than there clients on the network and overall user experience.

If only they could throw away the Throttling system, how awesome would that be!!! It would truly be uncapped without any limits of the amount of bandwidth one can make use of. That's just my experience and I have seen a pattern on MyBroadband and as well as Social Networking sites.

Please MWEB, abolish the throttling system. I ask you kindly sir. PLEASE SAVE YOUR ISP
