Apparently the grass is not greener on Telkom either, clients are complaining and turn around times are not as quick. You going to face issues with Telkom as a ISP. Rather try a test account at Afrihost or any other ISP. Try stay clear of Telkom, they not worth the stress. Good luck with your new ISP :)
 
I'm on the 2mb premium uncapped account and because I game online low pings are very important to me, I'd rather pay a bit more and get what i want than have to battle with other isp's. I've tried afrihost which isn't too bad and telkom which is bad but i always get great service as well as super low pings on my mweb account :thumbup:

If only they could throw away the Throttling system, how awesome would that be!!! It would truly be uncapped without any limits of the amount of bandwidth one can make use of. That's just my experience and I have seen a pattern on MyBroadband and as well as Social Networking sites.

I found gaming laggy on the MWEB network, had high pings. With my other ISP I'm getting super low pings and gaming is a breeze. Just don't game too long or you will be throttled and we wouldn't want that :) :P
 
If I'm downloading from the MWEB Steam server, why does that count towards the threshold? So I should just switch to an International server then?

My exchange has been congested for ages but it's been especially bad lately. There have been techies working on an MSAN nearby for weeks, could it have something to do with that? a storm before the calm at least means some relief on the horizon. but atm unusuable and very frustrating

I just tested with a Blackberry & a Sony and could access wwww.mweb.co.za then go to My Account.

I also tried direct myaccount.mweb.co.za and opened.
 
Hi chaps, how can I cutover to MWEB or Afrihost from Helkom? Paying > R700/p.m for uncapped 512...
Need to have Callmore, as my Grandparents are living in my downstairs apt and they aren't techno-savvy enough to
handle VOIP.
Any and all ideas welcome!?

Mweb guy please explain the difference between uncapped ADSL 2mb for R199.00 pm & premium uncapped ADSL 1mb for R199.00 pm? I read the Ts & Cs for both & there is NO difference so what am I paying R199.00 for 1mb when I could have 2mb for the same price?

If I remember correctly, the "Standard" 2Mbps line has a threshold of 70GB within 30 Days and the "Premium" 1Mbps line has a threshold of 100GB within 30 Days.

After that, you get throttled...

Go for Afrihost rather than Mweb, they have a system called Throttling which limits how much usage you can use within a 30 day period. It's truly not uncapped and it capped more like. Give Afrihost a call :) you won't regret it sir

Mweb may not be the right ISP, Afrihost is better than Mweb. Just check the social media sites and MyBroadband forums. You will notice a pattern of dissatisfied clients on the network, including me as they throttled me TWICE! twice!! :/ keep your line with Telkom so you keep voice services and go for another ISP. Afrihost is like 4 times better than MWEB In terms of managing the network and superb support! Good luck :) Inbox me for more info and I'll assist you

No it's not. It's capped but Mweb want you to think its uncapped by not revealing the thresholds on there main site. Careful rather not get throttled and have a Uncapped experience. Go for another ISP. You won't regret it

Don't be fooled by the pricing strategy. They caught a lot of people through this, i have personally been on there network- I was a former client, i got sick of the throttling system and where it's calculated in 30 days. It's *%}^{*{^{shyt. Clients don't want to worry about how much they use, seeing that its advertised as Uncapped because its not :( It capped only because of the Throttling system in place which limits bandwidth. Go for another ISP, I made the best decision by moving. You won't regret it :)
