MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

MWEB Guy, these crappy fon routers, there a update somewhere? I either have to restart the bloody thing 4 times a day because my internet dies, the router decides my laptop may not have internet any more, or we can not send mails, but internet works fine.

Afternoon saa044, please send me your MWEB account details via private message.

I will log a technical call back for you, in order for us to troubleshoot this with you.

Is MWEB in any way affiliated with Multichoice? Reason I ask is because people are cancelling DTSV in order to rather download their content, but now MWEB has killed Torrents in totallity. (Even after 11PM)

Afternoon, we are part of the same group.

However, this is not the reason we slow torrents.

Torrents has always received the lowest priority on our network, due to the nature of the traffic

Been getting worse and worse. I used to get decent speeds after 10PM. I have a distinct theory that you guys are hitting torrents harder.

cloudload.com works nice, yes 20GB unlimited traffic will set you back around R60, but if its a big part of your usage, then yeah worth it.

I need to download the content to my computer, so that wont really work for me, but thanks.

No, cloudload.com downloads the torrent for you at x MB/s, then you can download the files on their own or select multiple files and press zip and download. Worked great when I was on it.

And if it's one file like .AVI for instance?

Or he could spend that same amount on Netflix.

Hi

Im currently on a 4mb uncapped bundle but lately my download speeds have dropped massively. Ive just tried to complete a speed test but it takes really long. Basically it starts out strong at about ~3mb/s which is what I expect but then it quickly drops to 0.35mb/s and takes forever to finish the test. My upload speed is about 0.4-0.5mb/s though

Please help

Good MOrning, please provide me your MWEB account details via private message.

Hello,

What is the best way to cancel my ISP contract? Who should I contact? I know there is a 30 day waiting period, and want to get the process started as soon as possible.

I work a lot from home and currently, my internet speeds during office hours is to slow for me to do my work properly. I struggle to get above 1mbps on a 4mb premium account during some hours of the day. I need a business package, but the MWEB business packages are just to expensive for me.

I had a good few months with you but have to end it unfortunately...

Hi

Please could you drop me a PM with your account info.

Thanks

Hi MWEB Guy,

We run a small business and recently we have started noticing issues with Office 365 or more specifically with mail synchronisation (i.e. Outlook 2013 with mail hosted online via 365). This used to work perfectly up until a few weeks ago. Now we have constant issues with mails getting 'stuck' in the Outbox and mails not coming in on time.

We have tested a few things our side, and after switching to another comparable Uncapped Account (Afrihost Business) the problem is completely resolved. We switched back to our Mweb Business Uncapped account after a week and the problem has returned. We have already checked and there are no issues on our line or in our area and as mentioned before the Afrihost account works perfectly with 365. Can you please give me an ETA on a fix for this as it seems to be some kind of shaping protocol gone wrong. This isn't the only issue (sometimes RDP sessions can be troublesome as well) however it is by far the most aggravating one and a quick response would be appreciated.

Edit: We have a 4Mbit line (10Mbit is not yet available in our area).

I can of course PM you our details.

I will certainly investigate, send me a PM with your MWEB details

Question: Does YouTube use local bandwidth (I was under the impression there is a server in SA) and 2. Does this count towards the bandwidth Threshold?

May have to leave Mweb unfortunately. All I do is play games, download on rare occasions and youtube, but this seems to hit the threshold too easily. Joined up back when it was uncapped and did not have to worry about this but this is nothing but an annoyance now to constantly watch it and I work on this line too - receiving 2-6mb emails is impossible while Throttled making work impossible.

Do you download a lot during the day? I do use quite a lot of bandwidth on my 4Mbit Premium Uncapped account and can proudly say I've NEVER hit the threshold. The simple thing I do - major downloads are scheduled for after hours - between 7pm and 7am. If you consider the ISPs and how they operate their networks, there is usually a lot of capacity available after hours and if you are considerate to that, then you probably will never get throttled - hey, I haven't yet (touch wood). Just my 2c :)

I can confirm this as well. I was never throttled until just before I cancelled my home Mweb 2mbit Premium Uncapped acc (moved, using another account at the new place but may switch back) and decided to make the most of the last few days an disabled my regular scheduled downloading and just let it run throughout the day. Needless to say I was throttled after the 2nd day of doing this. The acc became unthrottled again within a day (after stopping the daytime downloads). My usage on this acc was on average around 120-150Gb a month, and as I mentioned before, I had never been throttled until I 'abused' the service and downloaded heavily during the day.
