MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi Mweb Guy

Can you please reset my session please ?

Kind Regards

Also had to request a port reset last night, my ping was > 2000. Rebooted router, was fine for 3 mins or so, then died. Reset port, waited 30 mins, rebooted router, all fine, gaming and browsing wise. Did not try downloads.

Hi MWEBguy, I have to annoy you again. But I don't get any answers from the email-support ([email protected]) although I already sent the email last Friday (!) and MWEB promises that my email "will be attended to within the next 24 - 48 hours."

I tried to call the support hotline, too but I don't have time to wait for ages until I am connected to an agent (tried it several times and waited for more than 5 minutes each or was kicked out off the line...).

The thing is that our internet was down for 3 weeks. Problem was a faulty line. As our line is with MWEB I asked billing kindly to send me a new invoice because I won't pay for a service that I can't use. Nevertheless the full amount (769 Rand) was deducted from my account today. I ask you kindly to transfer back the according amount for the time I could not use your services.

capek brings up an interesting point. I only got a response from billing@ after bringing my issue to MWEBGuy.
Seems that the mweb guy (team, department) are the hardest working people in all of mweb.
MWEBGuy seems to make the rest of mweb appear to be a little slack. Other departments need to start jacking up.

Any ADSL issues currently in Bellville, Cape Town?

Took me 12 minutes to complete this speedtest...

Other tests looks fine.. (changing mweb domains in username not helping)

So my Web Africa uncapped 4mbit is diving down to 2 stars a bit too quickly for my liking. I have now signed up to MWEB for a 6mbit standard uncapped account. I see according to many posts that the 6mbit uncapped standard FUP sits at 150GB in the 30 day rolling period. It's cheaper than a capped 150GB with the benefit of no hard cap.

Anyone else on 6mbit uncapped std and is it still a 150GB limit?

If I download 20-30GB in a short amount of time, does MWEB shape/throttle me more? Or is it only the 30 day rolling that causes throttling/shaping?

My line died to a crwal last night. Phoned help desk. Did sped test, ping 2650ms , down speed 0.1 Mbps. Reset port, try again. Ping 307 ms, down speed 1.4 Mbps. Change to Telkom Guest account, ping 19 ms, down speed 3.5 Mbps. Account is not throttled, so I have to wait for "the specialist" to call me tonight at 19:30.

This was at around 18:30 last night, before then line was fine.

You have a line/equipment fault. Because another account works 'fine' does not mean another account is faulty. Changing account is like a port reset which helps improve latency temporarily.

Tried two different MWEB settings, both were slow, the Telkom one was normal from word go. (Used @mweb.co.za and @dslmweb.co.za)

Hi blunt

The 6mbps standard product threshold is still about 150GB's.

If this is a new account, I'd advise monitoring the usage for the first month closely as the account does not yet have a 30day history.
The system uses the first 15days usage patterns to calculate if you will exceed the threshold in the next 15days. This only happens during the 1st month.
So if you 100GB's in the first 15days, you may find yourself speed limited on the 16th day.
On the other hand, if you only use 60GB's in the first 15days the account should not be speed limited on day 16 as your usage would still be with in the threshold.

Once it has a 30day history, it calculates usage on your previous 30days usage.

So you should be able to download 20-30Gb at one time and not be speed limited, it all depends on how close you are to your threshold.

Hi

This is rather interesting and I'd like to see where this leads.
Keep me posted on this, I'll try to keep an eye on the call from my side as well.
I will also ask them to provide you with a test account if possible, to see if the problem is isolated to the MWEB network.

Will do so. The guy I spoke to said it must be something on the back end of the account.

What happens when I become throttled, how slow is the line capped to?

Try clearing cookies and cache, then test again.

By typing the url: mweb.co.za and then clicking on mail.

I have tested on numerous PC's, browsers and cannot replicate it on my side
Same redirect here. Cleared cookies + cache + lost all my passwords, settings, history etc.
Didn't happen for 2 days, but now it's back, just by going with Chrome to the Mweb site.
Don't have to click on anything, pops up while page is loading.
Doesn't happen in Firefox to me.

Whole new pc and this damn malware/adware shows up again.

Mweb Guy - please drop the bull**** and investigate this because it's damn clear that it's your side

Thats now 2 PC's, 2 laptops and a tablet and it ONLY shows up on the Mweb page.

Hi

I would suggest that you mail this to [email protected] along with your MWEB details and they will be able to investigate

I did 2 days ago, I have received no response. Second time lucky perhaps?
