We are not experiencing any trouble with the news server.

I have just tested it and I am able to connect to and download from it.
 
News server has been dead for hours.

I love how there's peeps in here, on FB and on a gaming forum all bitching about having no joy but Mweb can connect so the problem must be imaginary.

I'm not aware of any problems with the news server.
I have since requested that the engineers check it out to see if there are any issues.
I will let you know if they find a problem.
 
Mweb guy. Thanks for logging the fault with Telkom. They did contact me and said it will take 48 hrs to get a technician out to investigate.

What is the easiest way to cancel your account with mweb? Is there still that thing where you have to pay for one extra month before leaving?

Hey Guys

I have received feedback from the team and they cannot find any issues.
They have run some test, they were able to connect and download from our test bench.

I think around 6% would be accurate, but I can't tell you exactly - I'm not a downloader. :)

MWEB isn't for downloaders. Well, unless you download after hours, and stay within your monthly throttle limit.

Most of us are very happy about this.

Thanks for all the feedback, I will have them relook into this.
It's clear that something somewhere could be a bit flakey.

I will let you know as soon as I receive any feedback.
 
I can ping and tracert the news server but can't connect.

Also to the person asking above, I was on the 4Mbps premium for close to two years and I never got less than 50% line during the day on nntp.
 
Hi Mweb Guy, everything is crawling in Hermanus today, sooooo sloowwwwww. Did a traceroute to mweb.co.za and bbc.co.uk if that helps you any. Mweb just gets stuck although BBC completes the sequence...

Hi Spizz

Looking at the traceroutes it spikes very early on and looks like a congested exchange to me.
