MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Hi MWEB Guy,

My father-in-law has a 2Mb basic account and would like to look around. To save the hassle, I would like him to give the 2Mb Premium a go before making looking any further.

Any chance a trial can be arranged for him? Thanks.

The only difference between our standard and premium uncapped packages is the amount of data you're allowed to download before you get throttled. With premium having the higher download threshold of the two.

That said, unless he's looking to remove his current throttle, an upgrade to premium shouldn't be the answer here. Furthermore, trial accounts are for new customers only I'm afraid.

Mind PM'ing his MWEB account details so I can arrange for someone to phone him to discuss his options please?

My line is now syncing at 768 down and 256 up.
Rebooting does nothing.
The line was just repaired 6 days ago.
Was without proper service for 28 days and now this. End of my rope.

This was taken right now.

Look at how many errors there are on the upside. Surely that is an issue with the line?

Which modem?



Sure, turn your modem off for 20 - 30 minutes. Your port will be reset and you'll have a new IP. I doubt that is the issue though.

Billion single port modem on bridge mode connected to a Mikrotik RB750. The modem and RB750 are both 2 years plus old, but still rock solid at 400KB/s plus so no hardware issue. The 30min thing could not work for a business unfortunately, but a call to tech support sorted my problem. New IP and the problem was gone. My IP was like over a month old lol. Thanks for the reply though. Wish MWEB Guy would do the same. :p

Morning. Just wanna check why my 2MB line isnt syncing fully.. its seems to be stuck at a 512kb for a few weeks now. Could you check it out for me?

MOrning Wolfy, there is throttling being imposed on your account at the moment.

This is what is causing the degraded speeds.

The line is currently syncing at 2Mbps.

Have a look at Understanding SNR and Attenuation Rates
50dB-60dB is poor and may experience connectivity issues
From your attachment your downstream db is 56dB... I'd say you have a line problem for sure.
Also, phone telkom and tell them you have noise on your line. Don't mention anything about internet or connectivity. Line problems get higher priority ;)

Can you confirm the threshold for VDSL 20Mbit Uncapped (Data Only) product and the difference between standard and premium, from the website it just seems as if premium has a higher threshold.

I am currently on 300GB Afrihost Capped and can get full speeds on ftp downloads and HD streams without needing to buffer but it may work out more economical to go with a threshold based system if its high enough. You can understand the hesitance of commiting to R1100 a month and finding out on day 1 that performance isnt what I was used to.

The thresholds imposed on the 20Mbps packages are as follows:

Approximately 350GB on the standard package and 2000Gb's on the Premium package.

So my Fon router gives an error : Concentrator not reachable. It doesn't sync at all.
Did a factory reset and tried again but still nothing. Switched it off and left it for 30 min still nothing.
Then switched over to my old Billion 400G and everything's working fine.
Any fix available or is the Fon router broken permanently?

Hi brb, it could be that the router is faulty.

Tested your trial uncapped 4mbps offering last night when Telkom was buffering, around 20:15. Was running without a hitch. Good on you guys.
