MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

So we've upgraded our data to the 10mbps business package and things are almost a tiny little bit better than before! PROGRESS!

While we are wrestling with Telkom in order to have our line sync speed improved, I wanted to know if there are any router settings I should change for this package as opposed to the 4mpbs uncapped premium package we were on before. For instance, we now have a static IP assigned to us, should I set the router to use that IP or will it automatically be assigned to us? Or will it make no difference?

Hi,

I have had a chat to some of the techies here and they advised that if your router supports L2TP then you should be able to set it up from your side, it will not auto detect.
Ultimately you are responsible for setting it up although, we will provide you with the relevant basic settings to get it connected.
We usually advise clients to take the router we offer in addition so that we are able to assist with support and remote login as it is preconfigured as well.
I'd advise first checking if your router is compatible, if so, you then need to decide how you would like to proceed.
Let me know I'll arrange for a consultant to contact you to explain the details.

Thanks, not sure I follow, why would I want to set up L2TP ? The line is working fine as is, our previous account was a 4mpbs premium uncapped so we're running it with those settings. I was just curious whether I should be changing anything.

Hi.

I'm sure it has been asked before, but there's simply too many pages to comb through to find the answer.
What's the download threshold on the 4mb uncapped premium package?

Trying to move away from Afrihost, but so far struggling to find another ISP that has a high enough threshold before they start shaping/trottling.

400GB.

Thank you. That should be more than sufficient. Now I just need to try and convince my parents that the price difference will be worth it.

So tired of the permanent shaping that they apply at Afrihost.

Hi Qrox

The 4MB Premium account has a threshold in the region of 400GB on a 30 day rolling window.

Hi raithza

Let me arrange for a technical specialist to call you and assist with the technicalities of Static IP accounts.

Please PM your cell number.

How has there not been any progress on the email issue ......

Using Chrome, it hangs for ages - signing you in, please wait

And using Firefox, I still get this -

Mweb Unsafe.jpg

Aside from the "We cannot recreate this" response what, a month or two back, why hasn't anything been done?

What is the issue? www.signmein.co.za / MWEB login works perfectly here.

Who there still has an MWEB account? ;)

*edit*

Firefox on Mac does the same thing. Maybe take it up with Mozilla? Why not just add an exception?

Hi Mephisto_Helix

Are you using an Android device?

nope, just the same PC as the last couple years ....... it's really frustrating not being able to just quickly pop into my mail :/

I have an account for my email but what is it to you anyway. I'm getting tired of your fscking trolling now. You don't work for Mweb, I didn't ask you and I don't pay you so piss off.

Post reported, I hope something gets done about your bullshyte. And send me another PM like you did and I'll report that too.

Chrome continuously gives issues with the mweb sign in thing.

Hi Mephisto_Helix

When you click on, I understand the risk and add exception, what happens?

No idea what you're talking about.

It does seem though that you're not aware of the irony of your posting here, based on how you badmouth MWEB on this forum.

Mature people actually take off topic comments in threads to PM in order to not derail threads.

To claim in this thread that you would report my PM implies that it could be malicious/nasty. LOL, it was a friendly PM and the subject is even a ':)'.

Your coming here to moan about a silly problem with your Firefox, which can be circumvented forever by adding an exception, is the cherry on the cake. ;)

Has anybody else been experiencing slow speeds on Mweb international? Im averaging 100KB on 4Mbit but the speed is constantly fluctuating between 50-200KB roughly. It's very unstable. Was fine a couple days ago.

Tested on Steam, Youtube and a few download sites. The only site that seems to give me my 4Mbit like speeds is speedtest.net both tested international and local on there ..My account is far from throttled according to my account stats on Mweb's website.

Tested both Telkom capped account and a capped Crystal web account and both are working perfectly on all places with max speed.

Nope, but give me something to test?

Try steam game downloads/updates or youtube videos? Or http://download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip ?

I find it very odd that speedtest.net works perfectly fine though no matter where I test..

250 - 315KB/s with Steam downloads.

1080p YouTube no issues.

150 - 200KB/s for the Think Broadband test.

Speed tests are generally not accurate or indicative of true experience.
