Sounds like it could be a line related issue where you've been reduced from 10Mbps to 4Mbps to keep your connection stable.

think it might be a temp think ? otherwise iam leaving mweb , iam not paying for a 10mb line but only getting 400kb/s

Afternoon, please provide me your MWEB account details via private messaging and I will do a few test on my side.

Hi John1991

I have replied to your inbox message.

I have tested your line and it is only syncing at 4Mb, as your ADSL line is directly with Telkom you will need to contact them to have it synced at the correct speed

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you want to cancel, is there anything I can do to make you reconsider ?

Up your game. When I moved to Mweb, you were competitive on quality, price and features. Now you're no longer competitive on any of those 3 areas, and the same time I have a couple of issues that I've had over a longer period which you have no intention of fixing.

I've now moved over to Crystal Web. They have "free" midnight data. On a 4Mbps connection, which is what I have with you guys and what I still have, with midnight data alone I can download 180GB per month. With Mweb I get 110GB per month in total assuming that I manage to evenly distribute my data usage, which is pretty much impossible. Yes, the Crystal Web account is a bit more expensive, but the value for money is so much higher.

Then there are the issues I describe here. You're ISP #2.

If you fix your issues and if you become competitive again, then I will of course consider having you as my ISP again.

PM me your MWEB details.

Will do

When moving your line from your ISP to Telkom there will be down time when the line is moved to the holding pool

How long is this down time?

I'm not particularly keen on having my ADSL be down at all, so can I keep the ADSL line with Mweb without actually having a data product there?

I've proven that MWEB is good value here - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...d-useless!?p=17124191&viewfull=1#post17124191. Your 4Mbps is the standard option. Premium gives you 400GB.

You're also looking at bandwidth purely from a volume point of view, which says nothing about bandwidth quality. Crystal Web offers very good quality bandwidth, I must say though I'm still surprised that some people have streaming issues, of which there are none with MWEB.

All in all, I don't think you've made the wrong choice. I just think it would be easier staying where you are and upgrading to the correct account for your needs.

And is 80% more expensive than Crystal Web, while only (if I manage to 100% utilise the Mweb data, which is impossible) providing 25% more data. And Crystal Web doesn't have the annoying issues that Mweb has. So in total: Mweb is more expensive and with more problems. Switching away is a no-brainer.

No I don't. I explicitly point out that Crystal Web is higher quality than what I get with Mweb.

If price is an issue then you could also consider this - http://www.mweb.co.za/internet-connection/adsl/capped-adsl/200gb-capped-adsl-deals.aspx.

I'm also interested to know where you felt the MWEB Uncapped bandwidth was of lesser quality?

*edit*

Nevermind, don't worry about answering. All the best.

MWEB must be paying you a good commission for all this "shilling".

Yeah, everything I say about companies/services/products on this forum, for which people trust me for, is because these companies/services/products pay me.

Get real. MWEB is an excellent ISP, with many customers on this forum.

mweb is currently helping me resolve my problem and giving me feedback on whats going so thumbs up for their customer support a reason to stay with them indeed

Got your PM, thanks. I've escalated your case to the relevant department to discuss.

Thank you.

Since some people here seem to think that I'm saying that Mweb is a bad ISP - I'm not. Overall Mweb is a pretty good ISP. It just has some issues that for me are annoying enough that I want to switch, and the value for money isn't there for me anymore either. Simple as that.

I could easily mention a bunch of ISPs that are genuinely terrible, but Mweb is not one of them, so please don't use my changing of ISP to fuel any flame wars. Thanks.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply you were. It is the general sentiment about MWEB amongst ignorant people that I was referencing. I read about your particular issues, and your decision is understandable. Glad that you found something that works for you.

I wonder if MWEB capped bandwidth is treated any differently.

How long is the 100+100gb promo going to run? If I signup is it for life or ends after promo period?

Hi DeathStrike, the free data is available for a promotional period only. I'll ask around about when the promotion ends and let you know.

You do not speak for our company and there are no reported streaming issues with Crystal Web. In addition, you have absolutely ZERO insight into Crystal Web and our network.

You speak for MWEB and MWEB only. Please do NOT attempt to portray there being some sort of network fault with Crystal Web be it via backhanded compliment or direct accusation, and considering your inability to be impartial and provide anything other than MWEB marketing, I would suggest that you stop attempting to berate other companies in your continued public relations effort for MWEB.

I'd also suggest that you leave questions directed to MWEB for MWEB representatives to answer, else request that an admin have your status amended to public rep or disclose your affiliation and approval to answer on behalf of the business. You make numerous statements that require an intimate knowledge of the MWEB network as well as other ISPs' networks, which are often quite simply untrue. Your post above is a fine example but it's the tip of the iceberg with you. If you cannot leave these threads for reps to answer, and espouse nonsense about other ISPs, then other ISPs will start dealing with it accordingly both in this thread and others where you involve yourself. I imagine that wouldn't be to the benefit of MWEB customers, but posts like these above leave us with little choice in the matter. I imagine the intent of this thread is to assist MWEB customers. The irony of your ongoing public relations exercise is that it's going to have the exact opposite impact...
