Hi guys

A cable break has been isolated on local routes linking us to SEACOM.
We have been informed that repairs will commence in the next half hour, we hope the situation will be resolved reasonably soon.

Thanks for your patience.
Thanks MWEB Guy...

Now if the marshal console can start responding I can get mail routed again!

Up and running @ 75% speed....getting 300 KB/s

EDIT : Spoke to soon...back down to 50 KB/s, guess they are still working on it.

Sidenote, first time in my life I get a xx.xx.xx.255 IP address

I think p2p may still be lowest prio till browsing is 100%,people are likely hammering the pipes now ;)

Hmm interesting that a connection has been discovered to be damaged a few days after I complained about slow speeds and asked if seacom was down. But glad to see mweb jumped on it quickly. Now just waiting on good old telkom to plug me back into the grid... *twiddles thumbs*

Knysna has been completely dead since this morning but I think this is telkom related aswell.

I haven't had any adsl for hours now. Red light on router. Turning off and waiting a few min before turning back on does nothing. Quite frustrating...

Hi Bryn26

Which light is red and have you tried resetting the router?

One little break in a pipe and basically the whole of this Country's interwebs is brought to a stand still. Same situation on my Telkom ISP. You would there would be redundancy plans put in place to sail through such incidents. Now all the ISP's get for their lack of forward planning/budget restraints is a flooded call centre with pissed off clients. Bravo guys bravo....
