Yup...
Youtube's been an exercise in frustration for almost 2 weeks.
cancelling my account asap.
I agree with that, I upgraded 2 weeks ago to the 1Mbps package and for 2-3 days youtube worked perfectly, no buffering at all. Now youtube is almost unusableAlso getting average of 10kbps on downloads. Can you help out MWEB Guy?
Hi HapticSimian
You mentioned this is the error you are getting in Chrome, are you getting the same with another browser? Can you test that for me and let me know.
I posted on this thread a week ago. Got quick response from MWEBguy. Things were slightly better for a day or two. Now its worse than ever.... I'm getting fed up here. Same issues as the rest - Youtube unusable, Hamachi probes for ages before being connected (then loses connection again), downloads slowwwww, browsing slow etc.
Guys the ISP rule of thumb is once 30% of your customers start bitching and moaning UPGRADE YOUR BANDWIDTH.
Maybe your were a bit premature in dropping your 1Mb prices? Ever since the drop in prices MWEB SUCKS. You must be way oversubscribed. I'd prefer to pay extra to get a quality uncapped connection.
Hopefully you are going to get WACS bandwidth now to solve this otherwise you are going to start losing customers. I saw a 10Mbps uncapped offer now for R999 - that's less than half the price of MWEB's 10Mb.....

This is with any Download last night
Good morning MWEB Guy
My father has been having endless problems with WebAfrica, particularly their email. Last night he Skyped me and I found out local sites were broken. Well he couldn't even load Speedtest.net when I tried helping further so there was obviously something going on with WA last night.
He is currently paying Telkom for DSL Faster (1024) and usually gets 2GB from WA for around R140. I suggesting moving line + data over to MWEB all including 1Mbps because it works out about R50 cheaper for UNCAPPED and obviously much better quality bandwidth. I told him I could get him a test account and set it up in his router to test.
Could you please assist with a trial account?
Thanks.
Hi Superspeed
We have been experiencing abnormally high volumes of traffic over the past few days which has had some impact on the performance of our network. Our engineers have determined that this was largely due to the simultaneous release of software updates. By Apple and Microsoft.
Traffic levels are returning to normal now and we expect network performance to be back to normal soon.
Hi Postmanpot
I will arrange for you to be contacted.
I really hope so. Can't you get spare capacity in times like these? When Seacom goes down you have failover. Having a lot of extra network traffic unexpectedly equates to a failure of sorts when your customers can't use their accounts properly.
Secondly surely you guys have a decent cache server(s) that should negate the effect of updates... I put a squid cache in place for our office so when updates from MS or whoever comes in it only downloads it nce then everyone else gets it at wirespeed.
One question, how do the other 4MB users find their Mweb service with regards to speeds for torrents, youtube and international browsing?
