Hi Mweb Guy.

I bought some games off Origin and the downloads are going at 20kb/s. I have provided some Traceroutes below.

Good Afternoon, are you downloading new games? Your tracers seem normal...

Hi Mweb Guy.

Bought the Mass Effect Trilogy (1, 2 and 3) but they all go slow. If I download all 3 simultaneously, the download goes at 60kb/s. Mass Effect 3 (very new) will go at 20kb/s if downloading solo.

I have tested with my Afrihost account and got 108kb/s on my Origin Downloads. It looks like Afrihost pull the content from a local cache, as Origin connects to 196.33.166.232 when on my Afrihost Account. My Mweb Account, however, connects Internationally and downloads at 20kb/s.

Edit: I just switched back to my MWEB account and resumed the download, which is now pulling from 196.33.166.232 as well. I guess Origin just needed a kick in the teeth. It's only going at 90kb/s instead of 108kb/s, but it's better than 20kb/s.

That would make sense if the content is on the Akamai servers, as we do not have a local node and we do fetch the data internationally.

From what I can see on my side, your line profile is set to stabilize at 4Mbps.
I have just checked this to confirm, however I also see the line is only syncing at abouot 3Mbps.

Strange? We should be getting full 4mb! I've seem in the forums that people are on 58db and are on full 4mb

Afternoon, your line is syncing at 3663 kbps. Normally Telkom would drop the line speed to lower the attenuation reading. YOur experience can become more unstable if they force the line to sync at 4096.

Looking better after second router reboot.

Cape Town
Download Speed: 1321 kbps (165.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 434 kbps (54.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

London
Download Speed: 867 kbps (108.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 409 kbps (51.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 168 ms
Jitter: 1 ms
Packet Loss: 0%

It is spiking though, that 1321 and 867 is not a real reflection of the speed I'm getting. Diablo 3 is currently unplayable, friend of mine, two flats away on different ISP has no issues. Yes Yes, I know how many speed and other issues D3 has

Is Diablo the only game you are having latency problems with?

I dont have any other online games to check the speeds with. General international speeds seems to be lagging

I am really struggling to watch online streams. Can normally watch 720p streams on own3d.tv and today i can't even watch 240p streams :(

Good Afternoon fluKe, please provide me your MWEB account details via direct message.

I don't care! If they can do it , they must do it!

Oliverwww, its not always that easy... I will pass along your comments; however Telkom offers an up to 4meg service.

Also I have checked your fault again. You are 7.18km away from your exchange, you will always suffer from a degraded experience due to this.

Hi nadimm

If you can, log into your router with the Telkom guest account.
user - guest@telkomadsl
pass - guest

Then log on to saix.net and click on the speed test icon.
Click on the server nearest to you and you should get some very accurate speeds. ;)

I'm consistently getting sub 0.2 mb/s on a 1mb/s line. Last time I reported slow speeds, you did a port refresh last week, and I lost connectivity for 4 days. Had to call the callcentre twice, finally had to speak to a technician just to get connected again. But my speed issues persist.

Download Speed: 148 kbps (18.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 424 kbps (53 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 25 ms

EDIT:

I actually get higher speeds with my mweb account details.

Thanks for the feedback, please reconfigure your router with the incorrect details; then the correct details. I would like to see if your problem persists when connecting with a new IP.

Hi MwebGuy

I'm having a similar problem as fluke, after running a speed test on the mweb speed test site.

Download Speed: 5346 kbps (668.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 523 kbps (65.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

I'm unable to watch any live streams for the past few weeks now, its been from being able to watch 2x720p streams to being unable to watch anything else(not even 280p). Also losing connection for a couple of seconds once every two hours or so.
