MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Exactly!

Not good if you want to play the beta next week or access the forums using MWEB's DNS. You won't get bloody far at this rate :p

Is it actually being looked at or just shrugged off?

We'll definitely make sure it gets looked at guys. It's a bit strange as I've just looked up the server externally and I'm able to ping and trace the IP address, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have populated the name onto our DNS servers. I'll make sure the relevant technical people look at this first thing on Monday morning.

They'd better be quick about it, Guild Wars 2 has a Beta Weekend Event next weekend :p

Thanks, MWEB Guy. Looking forward to having it sorted. I prefer using MWEB's DNS servers since they respond faster than Google's.

Yay MWEB :D

Ra! Ra! Ra! Etc.

I love you man!!!! (in a brotherly way :))

Hi Friedpet

froot and Eskimos have it correct. We certainly do allow torrent traffic and I'm sure many here will tell you that the speeds are generally quite good as well.
However torrents are considered shaped traffic so if you made use of a service that is specifically designed to bypass Isp shaping you would be breaking the acceptable usage policy.

Does that include torrent to HTTP the unsecure kind

DNS Changer Virus

Several news reports recently mention that the "FBI"will no longer be protecting hundreds of thousands of machines from the "DNS Changer" virus. This site provides more information and directs to this site to check if you are infected. I got a green (safe) background image with the following text:

Code:
DNS Resolution = GREEN

Your computer appears to be looking up IP addresses correctly!

Had your computer been infected with DNS changer malware you
would have seen a red background.

[b]Please note, however, that if your ISP is redirecting DNS traffic
for its customers you would have reached this site even though
you are infected.[/b]

For additional information regarding the DNS changer malware,
please visit the FBI's website at:

@MWEB Guy: please comment on the highlighted part of the above ...

Does this affect US customers only? Or are all news items and "checking" sites part of the scam... :)

Hi SabreWolfy

I'll find out and provide feedback as soon as I'm updated.

I've just signed up for a 1mb account. There were some complications with the sign up process, but all in all I'm very pleased with the account so far.

I can't really tell how the shaping is, since I'm using it on a 384k line, but everything is almost full line speed. Well done Mweb!

Yeah international latency is currently at the 350 mark, just last night it was sitting pretty at 277 in game ...... some sites are also sluggish. Something is up.

To New York, shows fine. But once again, the weekly issue with DDO pops up. It really is getting a bit much now to have to deal with this issue every week.

Afrihost and Imaginet once again are both on 280 while this 350+ ping rubbish is happening on Mweb.

Can't ping the ddo servers or traceroute them ...... Well, I can but it took me hours last time to hunt someone down who knew the ddo server address, not in the mood for a repeat. My sites have come right, it's literally just the game again.

Thanks for the feedback Mephisto_Helix

Please continue to monitor and keep me posted during the course of the evening.

I'm definitely getting MWEB's 1mbps uncapped all-inclusive! But I've never had ADSL before, so I went and purchased an ADSL modem, and a Wifi Router. Currently using the router with my iBurst modem (contract expires end April).

I've seen mention of a 1 week trial account, but can't find info of this on the MWEB site, is it possible for me to sign-up for this, so that I will have internet access going into the month of May? Who would be the best person to speak to?
