Same thing I get with Android market these days; sometimes I have to connect with cellc then switch over to mweb again before it works. :/
 
Quick question, If I upgrade my 1mb uc shaped account to a 4mb uc shaped account but I keep my 1mb line with Telkom, will I experience full 1mb downloads most of the time, torrents specifically?

Obviously during the day it might be around the 60kb/s mark but that is still better than the current experience.

Also, will this improve simultaneous browsing by two users on my home network in the evening from 7pm-10pm with regards to things like normal browsing, social network, youtube etc, as currently we are not able to do this and this is without any torrents running during that period.

Before that, updates were also extremely slow. I resolved it by deleting the clientregistry.blob (make sure you know your account password first). When I watched the connection, it was trying to connect to some CDN in jhb and failing. After a few minutes of doing nothing, it would then say that there was an error connecting. Deleting the .blob seems to allow it to pick a new CDN (not sure why the old one wasnt working tho :/).

Maybe it has something to do with the WACS launch? Maybe they are all connecting us?

It should just upgrade to 4mb on your Telekom line, I know for a fact my aunt is running on 10mb but only has a 4mb account with mweb and a fastest option on Telekom line

Got a call from a Mweb consultant just now but they said I can't get a trial account as I am already an existing customer and this is only available to new customers.

Is there anyone running a 4mb Mweb data account on a 1mb line, what is your experience and is it better than going 1mb unshaped, price wise?

Currently downloading 4 torrrents on my 4mb Uncapped, total 3.2gb, averaging about 190kB/s. After hours and weekends are fine for torents, work hours depends on the traffic load. I have no issue with torrent shaping. Normal Web downloads crank all the way up to 400kB/s, even steam downloads (when steam connects - lol) No jokes, thats only yesterday! MWEB shaping pwns Afrihost six love! Trust me!

Lately Youtube buffers, all the time! Even on 4mb....

I doubt you gonna go any faster staying on the 1mb line :(

Agree with IRG. Don't go spending for something you won't fully utilise. Rather wait it out for a week or 2 and see if things improve. I am positive you not the only one experiencing this issue so it is more widespread than it looks.

I trust MWEBGuy and Will would update us on the situation :). This is also one of the reasons am holding off getting a new 1MB account...
 
Is anyone else having problem with steam? Can't login, netlimiter shows keeps trying to connect to WA steam servers at 4kbps, then to Valve USA at 4kbps. Been 'Connecting steam account: reactor_sa' for 5minutes already.

Update; 10minutes later, looks like it managed to find a mweb server....

It started with higher ping, then I read about guys having torrent issues and now the news server is dead in the water, just what exactly is going on?

grabbed 2 eps, got to 39% on a third and it's now just stuck on connecting .....


Earlier there was an issue of the traffic almost dying completely so my guess would be the Durban link is playing up/farked again.

I have tested this from my side and I am not having any trouble.

It's hard to pin down because it's up and down all the time ......... if I post about it being borked and 5 mins later it comes back up when someone else checks it, it doesn't make my experience non-existent, lol.
