MWEB Uncapped Throttling

Just go with telkom, best for downloading alot (800 GIG rough cap b4 throttling on 4mb account)

Clearly a bunch of people that have never had to deal with Telkom when they have a real problem. I am on MWeb ATM, but judging by the service they gave my clients, after recommending them, I am moving to WA (whom I have used for more than 5 years with hardly a hassle).

I have 15 devices on my network, and 10 users - rarely do we go over 200GB pm. Mweb only throttles when your usage is deemed excessive, but I have lost faith in their customer support.

My WA account works 100's, and the service is brilliant.

@FlatspinZA I work for a car manufacturing company in the IT department and deal with Telkom at least once a week and honestly they are alot better than in the past.

As far as Telkom internet goes, judging by the number of pages(53) vs Afrihost(489) vs MWEB(322), they dont seem to be having as many problems as the others.

Personally, I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens when WA goes to IS and how the TI uncapped performs before making a decision.

Yes, Gboss, but you're forgetting how long Mweb and the others have been offering uncapped packages, as opposed to Telkom. ;)

So when is it considered long enough?

The Telkom uncapped thread has been quiet for ages because there were no issues until recently. Other provides had shaping/throttling complaints within the first month of starting uncapped.

Never occur to you that our state-controlled Telecoms provider might be engaging in unfair practices?

EDIT: Everything else the state has anything to do with is anti-competition, what makes you think this would be any different? I'd rather give my money to people that really are trying to make a difference!

Would you like a tinfoil hat with that?

I thought MWEB didn't rely on Telkom anyways? Not willing to support a company that hides behind a AUP they won't clearly define.

Who do you think owns the DSLAMS? Tinfoil hat, LOL, maybe you should catch a wakeup?

@xrapidx +1 on the Telkom thead being quiet. The only issues there recently was the issues with slow torrents and international speeds but all seems well now. I checked before that the thread was dead for a few months...

I am no Telkom fanboy or supporter of any kind but it makes for a good arguement

Telkom has the most stable network with the cheapest uncapped product. Simple as that.

I did... It's why I have unshaped, uncapped Internet... and I'm not living in fear of getting a letter stating I'm using to much of a bottomless product.

And this is slow: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2903957996

Same Mweb account as you.

don't confuse shaping and throttling protocol specific speed reduction is a consequence of shaping not throttling

If you want to go with a big and sturdy market player go with Telkom, all feedback on their uncapped offering is damn good and by bundling line and product you get a discount etc ...
If you want a nifty ISP who seems to have an infinite ability to shake the tree sign up for Afrihost.
