MWEB Uncapped Users, How Is Your Torrent Speed?

During the day, 50KBs at night 350KBs on 4mb uncapped with mweb. Using torrents from thepiratebay.org

same here man but I use private torrent sites localy and internationaly .. better during day I can upload at full speeds but Dls are slow ... When I Dl from a Http site (WOW patches ) then verry slow during the day and @ night will its done in the mornig so must be faster )

I am about to signup for a 4mb uncapped account with mweb, does anyone use the vuze client? What speeds does everyone average for downloads during the day and night? I know others have said 60KBs during day and 200KBs during the night is this correct?

This seems to be accurate. Over the past weekend however, I got over 400KBs. It would have been nice to have 400KBs after hours in the week as well. But it is uncapped so I am not complaining for now. I believe the torrents are heavily shaped, but I hardly use torrents. I mostly use Usenet and Rapidshare for all my needs. Rapidshare is free if you use it with jdownloader. Happy downloading.

i get speeds during the day on torrents of about 60kbps at night if the torrents are well seeded i get 400 kbps every now and then drops to like 200 but after a while goes straight back up.... todate i have done 120gigs and thats slow because i got the account on the 22nd and till the end of the month after having it for a week i did 100gigs. i also called Mweb and spoke to a techie and he says they will only call u and say chill if u do 1Tb in a month. Thats been my experience with mweb and i aint leaving them even tho they are the most expensive uncapped at the moment but they are the most stable.... with them being a Tier 1 ISP and running thier own network i think they are the best option. When Mweb saw the network taking strain they went and bought more bandwidth rather than taking on more and more people and creating kaos on the network they kept me and many others happy by having a stable network. MWEB FTW!

Ditto. My experience with MWEB has been great so far and I'm ok with the shaping as it allows me to do other things like gaming :D

Tonight my torrents and news servers are unusable... Using http for everything now

Im using Vuze and the best speed I get is 25KB at night and on weekends been using Mweb uncapped since last year thought that speed was acceptable but jeez getting 60 and 200:wtf: is efing brilliant. You guys know of any other ports we can use on mweb? I obviously googled Vuze and DL speeds but found nothing local.

How is everybody doing tonight on torrents? I downloaded about 50kb tonight in 3 hours.

Terrible-- i am getting about 11.5kb/s download.

for the past 3 weeks my Vuze would give me error messages (after 4 hours) saying that the port is no longer accepting inbound connections. im getting abt 19-25 now.

11.5 kb/s terrible? I am would love to have 11.5, I am still stuck at 6kb/s.

Has anyone tried emule, ja ja I know its not a torrent but still I would be keen to know how its performing on the 4mb line before I sign up

With a 4mb line, say you don't download from 8am-6pm, then go bossies with Rapidshare, torrents etc.
How much a month are mweb saying you can download before getting "capped" per say?

the mweb rep I spoken to said that @ 180 GB you will be contacted by the abuse team :(

Well after using Afrihost's so called "uncapped", I'm up for getting by on 180gb/month! It's faaaaar better than getting crippled at 30gb.

R

BTW: Afrihost... SUCK MY BALLS!

mweb torrent speed

Im getting around 50-60kbps in the day and around 80-180 at night on mweb uncapped 4mb

Throttled to the limit, can barely get anything except web browsing.

Not been able to get more than 5-7KB/s for a few days now (384 line).
Called MWEB yesterday and was told that they heavily shape torrent / P2P for now due to a Seacom issue.
The guy could not tell me for how long this will continue. I doubt that it's still a Seacom problem.
Was happy with shaping up till now, but this is just kinda useless now.

I think the Mweb rep was either misinformed or just talking crap.

You have used 247.54 GB so far this month.

As has been mentioned before, Shaping != Throttling. Throttling involves reducing the overall speed of your connection to a particular speed, shaping refers to prioritising certain types of traffic such as HTTP over P2P and so on.

If you're after full speeds 24/7 on torrents, go for a capped account at present. If your usage is only going to be 3-5gb a month it's not worth buying the big accounts especially if you don't want to contend with shaping.
