MWEB Uncapped Wireless: Technology, shaping and other details

I pay R500 for wireless internet = 512kbps<1mb uncapped and free hardware?

So? a BMW and a Tata will both get you around, and give you as much mileage as you want if you keep feeding them petrol. One costs more.

I'd like to ask Mr. Hogh just how many base-stations does he plan on having if he's operating at 5800 :p

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but does the following:

The wireless CPE equipment costs between R2500 and R3500 depending on the speed, and with the added R4000 for the Cisco router and installation charges a total setup cost of around R8000 must be recovered over a 12 month contract period (around R670 per month).

mean that you will pay R1299 for the 512kbps service and MORE for the equipment or is the equipment already included?

Too expensive, even with my extremely conservative budget or R400-R480 uncapped data at 384kbps, even this is too expensive.
This is only for :
1. business
2. people earning over R30k

wtf

The prices are all inclusive: wireless equipment, Cisco Router, installation. This is why a R300 per month service is just not feasible - basic economics.

True - MWEB says clearly that this is aimed at the business market, hence the high end equipment.

Yeah, you probably get wireless internet from someone that RESELLS WIRELESS OVER THEIR ADSL. This is far from the same thing. Again "wiki contention ratios". It is not about the speed, it is about the Quality of the bandwidth.

It’s the same price as a 384 uncapped and it has better downloading speeds and some other benefits

Oh well, there goes that idea then. So still no viable alternative to Telkom hell....

Are those speeds symmetric?
Hi Na-iem,

No, as these products are designed to be the wireless equivalent of our Business ADSL offerings, they provide the same asymmetrical transfer speeds.

MWB.
