Hello all,

I need to check this with the forum- are you experiencing the following browsing problems:
1. Unstable and disconnecting browsing.
2. Malformed and uncompleted webpage loading.
3. DNS issues.

This applies to Mweb only, and if you're with another ISP also giving the above symptoms, please specify. This applies to the current time period only.

A good way to check if you apply, run a continuous ping in your terminal/command prompt and see if it times out during web page disruptions.

Many Thanks!

Yes I am - Parklands, Cape Town.

I Initially thought it was my line...no word from mweb though.

The only issue I've really noticed is my download speeds have dropped from 400KB/s to 200KB/s ±

I've been pinging 8.8.8.8 (Google) for a while now, time is between 280ms and 230ms with no drops YET.

WAIT! EDIT!

As I posted this thread, I noticed it started doing it's "request timed out" and so far, it's done it 10 times!

You can check this page to see if MWEB network status issues, they currently do.

http://www.mweb.co.za/helpcentre/NetworkStatusNotices.aspx

I am on momentumnet (which I believe uses cybersmart) capped account and I am getting random "Request timed out" when pinging www.mweb.co.za and www.google.co.za

I also had awful international speed around lunchtime, still pretty awful actually, can't watch a video on youtube without long buffering pauses. Was flying last night though.

We've managed to get people stable with our VPN accounts- I'm not sure if this is still the solution, hopefully we can get an update later. This is almost like the long SEACOM outage.
Anyways, our VPN accounts are on promotion. If I get more info on this I will make sure I post here. We've been getting support tickets about this. At least we know it's definitely Mweb.

Yup got the same issues, even mybroadband.co.za would time out then I would have to reload again. Think these issues will stay till next weekend when everything is expected to be fixed and the extra 1.2gb extra pipe is available.

This may be an unrelated problem. I've been trying to register on this MWeb discussion forum http://openforum.mweb.co.za/. I get the automated response saying that I am registered but will not be able to log in until approved by an administrator. After that, nothing ... Emails to [email protected] receive no response. Any chance that the forum might just be 'broken'?

It's possible, you should also note that they had email problems with this whole network issue story from Friday, that's also an option. Perhaps try registering another account with another provider, or if you have a hosting account with us, create a new email or contact me if you would like me to setup the email on your account.

Thanks for the heads up. I may have to try another provider. Over the years a number of domains have been blocked because of trolling. The mods seem to overlook the fact that blocking an entire domain net nanny style punishes the innocent along with the guilty. From here, tho', it looks as if the forum software is playing up. 50+ new users in the last month and not one of them shows up on the forum? Date shown as New Year's Day, 1970? A little before MWeb's time, and the WWW as we know it. ;)

Probably part of the big upgrades to their bandwidth that they said they would implement in the first week of Oct.

My line seems very dodgy still - I'm getting around 1Mbps even tho my line is synced at 6Mbps and the DSL keeps dropping too - I'm with Telkom and also in Parklands.

You still experiencing problems?

All Good here in Durban North with my 384kbps line running at full speed on file sharing sites.

I am yes. Line is VERY slow!!!

Not experiencing anything really significant, speed did drop a bit since switching from SaiX back to the Mweb network but hoping things will go up a little bit once the IPC settings are settled down this coming week.

:) Streaming 4 NFL games Live in HD, no buffering, can't complain yet!

Well sorry to burst your bubble I in durb's and I've started having major issue in the last week with mweb.

I battle to evan connect to steam this evening, to be told by mweb support there is nothing wrong... yet when I use my axxiss backup account all is fine..

I asked the tech to log a fault so someone can follow up. Just got told he can't cause there is no fault on the line.. so plz explain that 1?
