Mweb - Yes/No?

Well lance i have not seen mweb saying anything about the news server being included in a monthly subscription. Please go show me where mweb advertise their uncapped accounts with a news server that goes at full speed.

DSTV tell you for your money you will get this many channels, so show me mweb guaranteeing you full speed on their news server please. No i said the retarded nature of some piraters, never made reference to you at all.

On another thread I showed how the total downloads per day were a lot higher for me on average in the first week of May than they are now. This was the overall picture that killa keeps referring to. The snapshot also illustrates this by taking a look at how my downloads are performing on Grabit.
 
To get on topic again: I'd say have a look at your options...

Mweb has its faults, as all these uncapped offerings do. But from my experience and the opinion from other users it offers a superior service to the rest. You can make up for the Mweb short comings in some cases with external services. But generally it should preform pretty well.

Axxess has some options with their Express ++ accounts if you're OK with paying a bit more. That at least will give you an unshaped account and if the stats are correct on their homepage there's plenty of people who make good use of it.

Afrihost will offer a fair service (although I'm not a supporter of their's personally) but only up till the stage where they start to throttle your line. After the 100GB mark ALL your internet activity will be slowed down to a slower line speed.

Openweb seems to be working on something new from what I read but at the moment they will form part of the next group...

The IS providers... they basically offer the same service with minor variations. Unfortunately IS uncapped is not the best performer at the moment and have recently give the most problems out of the lot.

You have plenty of options to choose from, but just weigh out the pro's and con's. Mweb at the moment is pretty good... but who knows what will happen in the future. Worst case scenario you give them one month's notice and move on.

Yeah, I know it is similar to the retarded people (although that is insulting to retarded people and I apologise to them. I personally would not use this as an insult but I am just following your insensitive example) who feel that just because they are satisfied with the way MWeb is performing no one else is allowed to complain.
 
Complain all you like but complaining about a free local news server is about as lame as one can get it. Nobody cares if you are getting slow speeds on a slow news server, i would have thought that would be obvious but anyhow :D.

Keep moaning it will never change and you will see the performance of that news server drop and drop and drop. So maybe move over to afrihost and use their news server :D. Yes now that thing moves dude, full speed 24/7 :p.

O lance why don't you just cancel with mweb and move somewhere else? Remember action speaks louder than words and considering you are unhappy maybe you should do it?

I know if mweb was giving me kuk i would either go for something more expensive or move to another company.

I don't use astraweb.

I only recommend to people because it is the cheapest monthly payment at 10/11 dollars. I buy blocks of 200gb for 27 dollars from use-net.news.

I know moaning about the government won't change anything but i do not have a choice as to whether i have them or not do i? You do.
 
i have no complaints with mweb...

i knew from the beginning that this was a shaped service.

all those who want an unshaped account, go for the business one!

much better than my experience with Afrihost!!

i have done 110 GB this month..averaging 350kb/s on uTorrent after hrs and 430 kb/s on http ( 24/7 )

Yes i am happy with being able to download 100-300gb a month with no worries about my line speed being dropping to 128kbs. Mweb is the best uncapped solution, if you want full speed pirate networks 24/7 there are 2.4k accounts that will suit your needs.

Elvis your logic is so flawed buddie, afrihost limit you line after 60gb and then limit it more after 100 gb and so on, mweb is simple during the day they shape pirate networks everything else runs 100%.

I would rather do 200gb a month on mweb with shaped stuff during the day than do 100gb on afrihost and have my 4 meg line limited to 128kbs for everything. During the day everything runs at 4 meg on mweb apart from pirate networks no matter how much you downloaded, afrihost limit your line speed after 100gb or something meaning everything you do on the internet will be limited. Mweb is the shyte dude and so what if can only pull 100kb/s a sec during the day on pirate networks everything else runs full speed, i can pull 12gb a day if i wanted to and i did 12 gb last night. It is not about the working hours you should judge mweb it is about the entire 24 hours and i am happy with 12gb a day :D

Ya i don't know why people would want to download 1tb, i can understand maybe 200gb or something but 1tb :eek:. I suppose though true blu rays rip are anywhere 20 and 60 gb so if people are downloading true blu ray rips it is not really that much. I cannot see how people are pulling 1tb without either downloading for the sake of it or downloading proper blu ray rips.

Personally the 4-12gb ones are fine or even the brrips are good enough. When i say 12gb i don't pull that everyday was just pointing out i could.

Each to their own. I cannot see why you would want/need to download 200Gb in a month. I am pushing 30Gb for this month but that is playing catch up. I cannot see the need for more than 60Gb per month once my usage has settled.

I think the point is that it's POSSIBLE to do it, not that you have to do it. I'm just commenting about the quality of MWEB's offering, that's all.

You will be surprised how easily you can get 100gb-200gb, i downloaded sparticus last month and in total all the 720 episode's were about 20-22gb. Series chow plenty gb's :D. Ya people must download as much as they like just as long as it is stuff they want and not rubbish they will never view. Just today i used 3gb on two and half men, V e 11 and the big bang theory.

Best thing no bloody dstv ads!!!!!!!! :D

Ahhhh pete yea you could do 1tb on mweb for sure just not using the mweb news server :eek:, not really sure if they would moan though :D. I am sure they have their limit of abuse and 1tb must be pushing their limits :D
 
I will say yes. It does vary, but all in all it is better than Axxess Uncapped Express + that was R999 vs R539 now.
 
I have no complaints with mweb yet. You just need to find a download method that works for you which would probably mean spending an extra R90. Personally I wouldn't expect much out of a 384 line from any service provider.
