MXit numbers: Impressive despite incorrect info

MXit continues to gain users despite challenges from other mobile messaging services

He received an e-mail from the US (how did he check that?) that informed him yappity yappity yappity...
I received more than a dozen e-mails that informed me I won a lotto/draw or inherited a gazillion during the past month.
In any case, the number of registered users (somewhat different to the users) and the number of messages don't indicate a high level of usage, or am I missing something?

Lol! There are maybe a lot of people in the age group of 18-24 that are registered, but MXIT is dead between University students. Everyone has it, no one uses it. Whatsapp is the most prevalent IM used on smartphones. The entire constant chat phase has passed over. High School kids might still dwell on IMs, but students just use it as an alternative to SMS.

Mxit going the way of Kodak ? If you don't adapt you disappear, once yahoo was the search king, currently it is Google, but even they have to keep improving. In this day and age things come and go fast. Mxit was one day the maybe the leader in SA of IM but I am sure they lost it or are loosing the battle very fast, because they did not adapt.

My domestic workers kids both over 18 now, used to use Mxit, if I ask them about that now they wonder from which planet i am. They use BBM,whatsapp and facebook they long forgot about Mxit

Whatsapp pretty much rules and Mxit for iPhone is reaaly bad but I do agree with Alan's statement about it being a goldmine as a future payement method, it would dominate and be easy to use!

I have no idea why downloaded mxit on my android phone only ever used it once

WhatsApp is only free for the 1st year there after $2 or $4 per year.

The everybody just switch back to Mxit because they dont want to pay or dont have CC

I've been using it for about a year and a half now on Android and haven't paid a cent for it.

AFAIK Whatsapp on Nokia is free for 2 years, Android 2 Years and I'l find out next month whether Blackberry is free for one or two years. iPhone, well you need to buy it once-off for 1 dollar
