Hi all,

Just a quick update.

My Neotel seems to be 'behaving'

I keep saying 'behaving' because it doesn't always perform up to standards.

Like last night, till about 10pm, it was doing 40KB/s (downloads) and then at about 10:15pm picked up and started doing 80-90KB/s.

This morning when I left for work, it was doing 20KB/s

Generally, it bounces around the 100KB/s mark.

Minus the other issues that I've had, I'm pretty happy with my Neotel currently.

I still have the wish that Neotel could do something to improve the upload / download speeds for gaming.

Many days I find myself wishing I was still on ADSL just so I could play games.

Exactly how I feel. I'm happy at the moment. I miss gaming but for uncapped at these speeds(90kbps+) I'm happy. Can't have best of both worlds...In South Africa.

Neotel Prime Connect- R999 for 2.4mbps and true Uncapped.

Have you guys taken a look at the Axxess express+ uncapped 384 kbps yet. I recently moved to this account and have been absolutely loving it. For about R350 more (line rental as the product itself is R999) you get a 194 kbps connection during the day (assuming you are thresholded) and a 4mbps connection at night from 8pm-8am; and when i say 4mbps i am not kidding as my line runs at 3.6mbps after hours. Now i realise that some may not like the slower daytime speed, but its not really bad at all as the uploads are still full speed at about 640kbps (nice to keep torrent ratio's up) and surfing is alot more responsive than I ever experienced with Neotel; even when thresholded.

This is probably targeted more toward the high end downloaders, but if you are looking for an account to litteraly rape the internet with downloads then this is definately it, with an average of 1.5GB's per hour for 12hrs a day.

I know, sounds like I work for the guys, but really i have been quite active on the neotel forums in the past and you will see i was a genuine user. I guarantee that the experience on these accounts makes Neotel look so backward it is frightening.

Sounds exactly like my connection [speeds and all]. Fortunately this is already 10 times better than my MTN connection, so it's good ;)

Well a wireless deal as opposed to a fixed line one always sounds good & coupled that with voice and uncapped internet @ 2.4megs is all that better http://www.speedtest.net/result/523770325.png. Since Feb I've been clocking close to 120gigs a month, this month only 50gig. Only dloading HD, don't know what to dload now (some pron now perhaps :o)

Anyway different strokes for different folk I s'pose :D

btw, the sole reason that iBubbles and neotel are doing so well is the fact that 95% of all their high end, priority customers dont have ADSL in their area. If I could, I'd definitely get a 4meg, but I cant, as telkom hates me and my area. Right next to Sandton. Dont ask me how my buddy on a frieking farm can get a 4meg line when my copper phone line doesnt even work, even though I practically live next door to IS.

Don't stress agentrfr, seems like our towers are not clogged as yet. Durban is still laid back on technology, I don't think Neotel has really hit here. Or b'cos of the height (I live in a flat) and overlooking the sea I may be safe for a while yet.

Or on the flip side in the next 6-12 months I could be feeling just like you :(

thanks.... Wish for once SA could catch up to the rest of the world. I just got an email advertising a 30meg line if I lived on the west coast of the states. Not cool.

I have done 80. I thought I did more... but I was looking at last months stats.

I hit 112Gb's last month, Aiming to get 150 this month. Next few months my 2x1Tb hard drives are gonna be full. :P

Lol. Shame man. Its not gdiza's fault. Thats like saying "its because of people like u who drive at the speed limit that we have traffic"

That is good speed on the Neotel prime product. Actually thats friggin awesome speed, and had i had anything even close to the speed you are seeing i would most likely have stuck around with Neotel, but unfortunately the reality is that the majority of the time many users don't even see 1/10th of that speed. The other major problem i had with Neotel was their lack of communication and inability to keep their customers informed.

Hope it stay this good for you though man.
