Hi all,

Yesterday I took delivery of my first car!

2008 Black Renault Clio 1.2 Va Va Vroom.

After spending the entire day yesterday going from car place to car place looking at cars (I had help) I found her and it was almost a guarenteed sale when I saw her.

I bought it from Car Rama in Wynberg and has the following specs: ABS, Air bags, Air conditioning, Central doorlocks with remote control, Electric windows, Power assisted steering, Radio/CD., R 59,995

I just need to have a alarm installed.

I wanted to share this awesome moment and many others with you guys (which I have done over the years)

Yes! I have insurance (about R600) and repayments are about R1300 a month, so that's R1900 and I'm going to struggle but it's all good I guess.

Only other issue I have is that the previous owner didn't do the 90000km major service which I'll have to do and I'm sure it's going to cost me.

Expect to see me asking for advice on cars in the future! ;)

2012 has been a great year for me! I accomplished a few of my 5 year goals in my 1st year of making those goals!
Join Metro EMS (full time!)
Do my AEA/ILS
Get a car!

Gratz, but it's a french car and once maintenance bills kick in.. ouch. French cars are not cheap to maintain in SA.

You are free now go forth and explore the world ! Gratz sir

Ask renault to set you up with a service plan, you can pick the KM's you want to be covered and they setup an easy debit order plan to pay for the services going forward on a monthly basis. No bill shock. Its why I drive mine :)

Don't forget the cam belt. Usually has to be changed at 90000km. It could be very expensive of it breaks.

+1

Congrats. Don't waste fuel and tires, be responsible.

Nice little car. Make sure to do the cambelt service ASAP. Cost me a small fortune on an Alfa 156 a while back. Silly lack of maintenance.

90k service. ouch!

Yeah! :)

I plan to inquire about this...

So I've heard, but I will do my best to drive it as little as possible because in January I get my "bonus" as it were (all Metro EMS staff get a bonus in their birthday month) and my bonus will basically goto my car and to do the 90,000km service.

Grats gdiza! (on all your goals!) Next goal for you .. CCA! :)

Roger that! If the CCA course is open to me next year, I want to do it, if not, ECT! :)

Congrats chap! Well Done

Thanks to all for the "congrats" :) I'm so happy with my "Clio'tjie" :D

If the car is outside of warranty or service plan I would not get a service by a stealership.

cam belt

Didnt change the cambelt on our 2005 clio 1.2 Authentique and it broke, R17000 for an engine overhaul.... So make sure you get that done ASAP

My first car was also a Renault. But it was a 1985 Renault 12 with a 1300cc engine. Over the bad roads around Harare I had no trouble even though it was quite tinny. The most comfortable seats I have sat in. Now I have a Mini-Cooper and it is very bumpy and no good for long trips
