My INSANITY Experience

Plyo is pretty tough, for me its actually the worst of all the cardio workouts :/ I started really unfit as well, but within two weeks I felt a major difference. Just keep at it
I'm on P90X though. Let me know how it goes when you reach the one where you do like a buhjillion different push ups, that totally and completely wrecked me. To the point where I if I got 1 rep I was proud of myself :D

Stopped for now, will pick it up again when I dont have to freeze my butt off in the mornings

I can't exercise in the mornings; I just cannot bring myself to do it...

I am doing this around 4 in the afternoon.

Missed yesterday had a bad headache. :( Will definitely pick up today.

I cant bring myself to do it after work so thats why :/
And dont worry, I missed 4 weeks due to some killer flu
Just keep it up, and you'll get there. Are you following the diet plan (is there one for your program?)

Day 3: 21/06/2012

Cardio Power & Resistance

Got very out of breath and couldn't keep up simply because I was out of breath. Crazy V push up things that exercise shoulders!

I completed Insanity a month ago. It was grueling :wtf: , but very rewarding. I lost only about 6kg, but weight loss was not my primary focus. I never followed any form of diet, so I am happy with the weight I lost. I was very worried about doing Insanity since it revolves around plyometrics and I already had 3 knee surgeries in my life . I simply adapted the exercises by modifying a lot of the jumping to protect my knee. I was still able to do more than 90% of the exercises without modification. Also, after completing the first 30 days I quickly realized that I am not ready for the next 30 days. So I repeated the first 30 days until I felt fit enough to continue.

You should be careful with plyometric exercises. I would always advise to rather err on the safe side. Injuring yourself is not worth it. I am currently beginning a revised combination of Power Half Hour, Power 90 and some exercises from Insanity. At this moment I have the flu, so I am just waiting to recover.

I must, however, say that it was one of the best things I did in my life :D. My life improved remarkably after completing the course. I was reaching the point in my life where getting up, bending over, laying down on the floor and getting up again or sitting on my haunches become uncomfortable. Now I am able to do those things with gusto. Keep at it, you will be grateful, but remember to listen to your body.

So when you are done, are you going to do it again? It sounds like it's an exercise you do once in a while.

Thanks for the post - did you notice any muscle gain?

I think you just carry on after the 60 days and repeat it again?

Yes, but I only redid the first 30 days. When I started the second 30 days I struggled maintaining good form with some of the exercises. Instead of injuring myself, I went back and redid the first 30 days again (for the total of 30 days - so I actually did Insanity for 90 days). After I redid it, I found the second 30 days were much easier (but still Insane). :D You will notice that a lot of the earlier exercises are the stepping stone to the more advanced exercises. If you are not able to complete the first cycle with relative ease, the second cycle will be brutal.

Thanks for the post - did you notice any muscle gain?

Insanity do not focus on muscle gain. It is more focused on fitness. I did notice changes in my legs, but not huge. If muscle gain is a priority something like P90X should be considered above Insanity. After Insanity my resting heart rate dropped from above 65 to below 55. So I am fitter now, but I am overweight, so muscle gain will not necessarily be visible. Hope this helps, and good luck with Insanity.
