Okay, so I've been very quiet and such, but lately, I've gotten very PO at Neotel, so I decided, cancel time!

BUT!

1 more try...

I call Marius Botha and chat to him, he says I must e-mail him details and he'll get back to me.

I e-mail him, tell him the problem, and my address etc.

I then go home, take screenshots over a period of say, 5 hours and e-mail them to him.

MR replies the following day, has the cheek to remove all the screenshots (I sent about 6) EXCEPT 1! and says, but that's the speeds our package promises (and the contract), so it's well within what you're supposed to get.

I reply with, but it's not consistant, moaning about 10 - 20KB/s etc and blah blah blah.

He replies with, it's wireless technology, speeds drop when there is congrestion to which I reply with "stop throwing everyone onto the same tower damn it!" (That is 1 obvious route to fixing the problem!)

Even if it does mean spending money! To make money, you have to spend money!

If there is congestion, move people over... it's like he thinks I don't know wireless networks when I work for a company that deals with wireless networking!!!!!!

Anyways, he says work will be done "tonight" (which is last night) and this morning, I wake up to a lovely 100KB/s.

I watched the connection for about 5 minutes then left for work.

I wonder what speeds it is doing now...

Suffice to say... that is my latest drama - but I'm wondering for how long it will last - I'm trying to be positive, but I'm sure if someone was at my place now and I asked them to check my speeds, I'd be very happy to see the 100KB/s mark still being hit.

I really do feel sorry for anyone who signs up for Neotel thinking "YAY! I'll get 100KB/s - that's okay! and be uncapped" YOU'RE A BLOODY IDIOT!!!!!!!!! I KNOW, CAUSE I FEEL LIKE ONE EVERY MONTH! :mad:

10:25am, Marius called me now to find out how things are with my line and I told him exactly what I told you guys, 100KB/s, now if it will just STAY LIKE THAT!

PS: Anyone who was having issues in CPT area, maybe is your line better too?

Neotel are perfectly capable of spotting and reacting to people not getting the correct service levels from a tower.

But, they seem to only respond when a complaint is received.

neotel networks work like cell towers, but i think they got it wrong somehow. My guess is that they havent factored in any handovers between towers. eg: tower 1 is received at x dbm and tower 2 at y dbm, after like 2hrs most users are camped on tower 1 due to it having x > y. So instead of the towers passing users on to lesser congested towers and spreading the load, users are stuck on one tower.

I could be very wrong, but i wouldnt be suprised if this was the problem, cos i doubt that Neotel factored in mobility in its NW. **cough** once more fail cheap Huaw&i**cough** :D

I felt like a HUGE SUCKER every month I saw that debit order going off also.

Moving back to adsl was the best thing I've done in months!!

Such a pity... sounds like all they need is a bit of a kick in the ass.

I wish! But for now, the only real way to punish Neotel is to leave them, the more customers that leave, the more chance that someone will go... "WTF! What's up! and maybe fix it!"

You can't give someone 100KB/s for 2/3 months, then when it drops to 10KB/s expect them to to be happy with it and still to have the cheek and say 'it's congestion' ??!?!?!

When my company has that problem, we put up more grids / antenna's / sectors and move people around so they get their speeds again.

Neotel needs to spend money to make money - and to make money, they need to keep their clients and they must be happy!
 
Just FYI guys...

My line is constantly doing above 70KB/s since yesterday, drops below now and again, but it's generally (lets say, 80% of the time) above 70KB/s with it peaking at 100KB/s more often.
 
Yeah mine has just gone totally down the hole again ...

10-20KB average , disconnects every minute..........................
 
See what I mean, you were having a good service, then they upped my service and now your service is down.

It's like a trade off, 1 goes up, 1 goes down... haha... stupid, but looks true!
 
Well Neotel is falling behind to ADSL (8MB) :(

Boet, I doubt they care!

Their package (Neotel Prime Uncapped) connects at 2.4 but it'll never get there.

Neotel can't even handle giving 100KB/s to people... imagine them doing more!

Can you say "NETWORK CRASH?" :D

Yeah well, I always had disconnects , but now it is just past insane again.......

Havent had a reply back from ICASA yet on my email, so will find time to start a telephone marathon with them
 
Has anyone had any luck with the new rep yet? I sent him a mail last night and I will post his response here
