My Line got upgraded

this is fail in such massive epic proportions I cannot control myself.

blows my mind that they even rolling out 20mb test accounts when they cant get all the congested exchanges sorted :mad:

Completely agreed!! Already rolling out new products while the old ones are completely broken. The Telkom way!
 
I have content, which im holding onto...

Telkom have really "come to the party" with this whole issue. Been quite impressed, after I finally managed to get their attention... :eek:
 
only in south africa...

95% of all the exchanges are not even 10mbps capable, and about 40% of them cannot even cope with the load of max 4mbps lines, and now they want to start upgrading a couple of exchanges to 20mbps.

its got nothing to do with deploying more dslams. its got everything to do with management of what they already have. rolling out new tech is pointless when you have current tech that isnt working as it should

first make sure your four walls around you are standing firmly, before you build a second story on top.

No it's not so simple. The replacement / upgrading of DSLAMs is an ongoing issue and should never be halted. The problem lies in integrating the planning of the DSLAMs with backhaul upgrades, which is undertaken by a different department as well as the replacement or maintenance of the last mile copper access network, which is also undertaken by different departments. Add to the confusion the funding that comes from different business cases / budget votes and some not-so-bright project managers and you end up with a stuffed up network.
 
Durban beachfront area still can't get 10mb. I gave up. I'm on uncapped 1mb anyways. Can't afford the 4mb uncapped and I could never go back to being capped again!
