My MSAN exchange

So after some back and forth with Telkom technicians, it turns out I'm connected to an exchange that's over 4kms away. However there is an MSAN about 1.5km from my house:

How can I check if this MSAN services my area? The techie told me that he's pretty sure I won't be able to connect to it, but will get back to me.

Also, having a look at this http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/528168-20Mbps-and-40Mbps-VDSL-rollout-concerns is this MSAN even working? Don't hear any noises coming from it

There is an exchange due for upgrade to an MSAN 113 meters away from our house (measured on google earth). We connect, however, to an exchange 8.3 km away.

TelkomZA needs to help :/

I don't think that site gets updated anymore.

Damn :(. So the techie called me back and said he spoke to the area manager who says our area is having another MSAN built for it, and my line will likely be connected to that. He had no idea where it is being built and I haven't seen any signs of Telkom construction. He didn't have any timelines for me but says maybe by the end of this year. So maybe there is still hope.

They are busy laying an MSAN unit about 750m from my house at the moment. They haven't added the concrete block yet, but it is definitely a site.

How long does it take for the laying and cutting over to complete? Anyone have experience with this?

Our MSANs were "completed" (read built) in January this year. Main cutover happened last month.

2 MSAN's close to my house were left with the concrete block for over a month until they installed the box. I have no idea if the MSAN is active once it's installed tho

Sad time..

i applied for a new telkom line and got shut down... apparantly cable theft is rife in my area but by 5th door neighbour got no problems with his line..

Made a small fuss and msg'd telkomza... now my line gonna be installed in a few days time and lucky me... there's MSANS around.. hoping for atleast a 15 to 20Mb line

I am on a MSAN but cant sync VDSL as I'm 100/200m too far from the exchange. There is another MSAN that they built that I can throw a rock at, but when I asked Telkom if I can move ports they said no I will always be connected to the closest one and they would have moved me if that was the case.

Unfortunately that is a bit far for the use of an MSAN unit... sorry bud :(

Yeah, VDSL doesn't want to sync but I can get a stable 15Mb sync using ADSL2 (had it for over a week). Telkom just doesn't support that profile and rolled me back to 10Mb saying anything over 10 you have to use VDSL modulation.
