I've yet to find a machine shop in Durban that will do small jobs. They all are very heavily involved in the big industrial stuff and don't want to do small jobs anymore.
 
Have you tried Alpha McDelta in Pinetown for fabrication? These guys have a very good rep for their work & standards. Won't hurt to ask.

Else have two flat pieces laser cut and then bent.

laser cut and bend specifically do just this for the public.
 
Will investigate these options.

For a different project I had at home, I tried about 30 different engineering companies in Durban and they all either wanted WAY too much money to do the job, or wouldn't even entertain it unless I wanted like 1000 units.
 
You get companies like Lasercut & bend that do it for the public as a business.
The turn around can be slow due to the work load but it's worth a try.

As an alternative, why not buy some angled iron and drill the holes yourself?
Just paint the bracket when you're done.

I'm dealing with LaserJunction down here in DBN... they might be able to arrange something for me...
 
Right for those who care...

Laserjunction tried to get into the cabinet market awhile ago. Didn't work out for them so they had a fair chunk of excess stock, so they just gave me two rails, will need to cut them down to length. But I was more than impressed that they just gave them to me.

Anyone who is looking for a cabinet or 2 may want to contact them, they'll sell their excess stock for cheap just to get rid of it I reckon.

On that note, you'll be surprised how much scrap metal goes into the bin at engineering workshops.
 
Popping back in now... made some progress on the study thank the pope..

All electrics are in, networking is pretty much done. Just have to get the curtains hung, and then wire up the lights (being a bit of a challenge since the LED bulbs i bought JUST don't fit in the downlighters I have, so I have to modify the downlighters a bit....After all that is done, then its just a bit of decorating and such to just bring the room together. So far I'm very happy with the progress and I think it will be a great place to work.

Under the desk on the left side is a set of drawers that I haven't put back onto the desk yet, purely cos i can't find the damn screws atm (maids drive me bonkers)..

I am going to have a floating shelf with an amp for the outside speakers, and then possibly either a filing cabinet or a bookshelf under the server cabinet as well.... that stuff falls under the "decoration" aspect tbh... those little details to fill out the room that I haven't covered yet.

I have a painting to go in the room, some wall vinyl and other such things as well.

No vanity boards on the window side of the table? No sitting on the chair with you mini skirt with open curtains :whistle:
 
I have 2 similar to this... one on either side of the corner workstation (2m x 1.8m). This negates the need for a separate filing cabinet. I also stuck in some spacers, so it makes the desk very very stable!

There are vanity boards on the window side of the table... though whats wrong with the mini skirt and open curtains if the person wearing said clothing is suitable ;)

Yeah, that is pretty much what I have, though sans the filing cabinet drawer..might upgrade to one of those though, since I do need a decent filing cabinet space for some of the documents I have.
 
The chair is proper fscked... its one of those Makro specials... its comfy but broken, so will be replaced with a decent office chair in the coming months.
