My order at Digital Planet

I would like to hear what you guys think. If on an offical Quote the total is wrong, for any reason. They should be obligated to sell to you right.

Take for e.g you get a quote on a product for R1000 when you come to fetch the item they tell you its R2000. You should theoretically get it for the R1000 should you not. (if that quote is still valid)

OK this is more than a few throusand we are talking here, and dont exspect to get the products for nothing, but surely they should give me discount on the products that i want, now that i have pointed out a problem with their system.

i once under quoted by R40 000,00 i would have covered my costs but made nothing off labour legally the client could have forced me to provide the goods and service at that cost but i called and told them there was a mistake and the total did not add up correctly they agreed to accept the revised quote altho still heavily discounted but there might be a issue cuz individual part prices are quoted and it my bite u in the arse with them forcing u to pay advertised price per article ordered

Well I checked the site before i placed such a large order; the customer is in no way obligated to pay once invoiced. And i can prove that according to the invoice I paid the R250 they required me to pay.

I too would love you to get your stuff, but as bigger places have made fubars before, the story tends to go like this.

Something on a website=they have an item for sale
website order/website confirmation/website invoice=you are making an offer to purchase

The company can decline your "offer to purchase". No reason.

Additionally, if the prices are such that even a blind man can see there is a pricing error (e.g. plasma screen for R14 instead of R14,000) then that also gives the company immunity...remember that whole E+OE shebang from school?

If it works out, I'll give you the R100 for a plasma, wicked!
But, sadly, it wont.

Dell makes pricing errors regularly, so do Amazon. Depends on how much p1ss taking goes on whether they decide to honour it "in good faith" or just tell you to go blaas doppies. i.e. get digital camera for maybe 60% less than you should...hmmm...let it slide...but if customer order 100 of them, then definate no-no.

I have delt with digital planet many times and they are very nice people there, you are being a w@nker Person.

I agree, whats the chances you'll get all that stock for R250!

If your a honest Person then you should tell them about there mistake and do the right thing.

I think Person has somehow deliberately done this and it is not DP's fault.

My evidence?

There is a trick to this order which I cannot reveal to you at this time

so just to confirm you have paid the R250 from your credit card ... it has been processed and gone through??

just a bit scared is what if things go nasty where now you have to pay for all those goods, cause i really dont see Digital Planet going: "oh thats ok here you go take my muti-million rand with of stock" ... i think they will check their ecommerce system and then go to court before releasing the products.

And like you have mentioned your "trick" ... im sure they will look at the possibility that you "hacked" or manipulated the system and if they do find out your "trick" I dont think you will get the goods.

But if it is a flaw in their system then it is a costly one ... where you might just get those goods (after a court case and after a few good years when the goods have become really obsolete) and then DP will sue the guys that implemented their e-commerce system ...

If you want to be taken seriously as a good business, boasting about "There is a trick to this order which I cannot reveal to you at this time" - and trying to get millions of rands worth of goods from a company supplying you in good faith - doesn't make me want to ever order anything from you. Ever.

If anything, its this sort of behaviour in business that gives this part of the world its bad name.

It's one thing to try pull a fast one if you're a private individual with limited funds and no organised local retailing plans for the loot you might get.

It's another thing entirely to be allegedly operating as a business and trying to commit criminal fraud with an overseas or local supplier.

Calling it a 'trick' doesn't hide the fact that you're just trying to dress up the language and avoid the simple fact that you're being a thief.

On principle, regardless of the 'savings' - even if you get the goods - I'd still rather not buy stolen property from someone who thinks its a clever or decent idea to defraud online companies, and try boast about it, as if its in any way acceptable.

Someone should do the right thing and alert Digital Planet to this thread, and stop this 'person' from trying to make out and out fraud and unacceptable behaviour seem 'okay' - and in so doing, continue messing up our local reputation as being a country of thieves and scamsters, in the eyes of online global businesses.
Any folks with some ethics and honesty, should contact Digital Planet and provide them with the info that's been put here, to stop this.

You wonder why we can't get half the things we want from overseas?
Look at what this poster is saying, and how he's figuring its all cool and a 'trick'.
It's because of thieves like this, that we CAN'T get stuff sent to us, because the overseas companies quite rightly, don't trust us anymore.

Maybe I'm conservative in some areas, but I'd alert Digital Planet without any qualms, and if I had the power, would perm kickban his ass off this forum, for this sort of self-deluding bullsh*t of trying to disguise criminal fraud as 'a trick'.
And worst of all, trying to make us believe or think that its 'cool' or 'just a trick'.

It's not 'cool'. It's not 'funny' or justifiable - and its because of this sort of thing, that we all, at times, are unable to get cheaper goods sent directly from overseas.

After having a good sleep I think that person is simply pulling our legs. :D

I somehow doubt he has the +-R22mil to pay for the actual order. Oh well atleast I now know htere will come nothing of this so I can relax and figure out a way to make the money to ge the stuff I want.
