My PC

No Windows Vista will ever touch my PC and Windows XP will be around for the next 10 Years.

Then stick to XP 32, 64 bit was a bit of a joke and people don't bother supporting it very well.

I'd also suggest Vista 64 if you have 4GB of RAM and a DX10 graphics card, but you can't fight Vista FUD.

BTW you do know after a while that 9800GTX will be a old card. IMO no use in going all out on a GPU when you can go midrange, and save alot more! :)

Thats the problem, because everytime something new comes, its an old thing already, so im gonna save money for the rest of my life and still be stuck with a very old PC.

So why do you say the Card will be already old, what new thing is coming now.

Don't bother with the quad core CPU, I think rather get a faster Core 2 Duo, 2x cores @ 3ghz is better than 4x cores @ 2.4ghz for gaming, if you're going to be doing a lot of video ecnoding, ripping, compressing / 3D rendering / processing then I'd suggest the quad core.

I had the E6600 (2x 2.4ghz) and now have the Q6600 (4x 2.4ghz) and Crysis runs no faster for me.

Why the Zalman ZM-F3BL 120mm Case Fan - Blue LED R109 ?

The green versions run faster ... :)

This is what my Computer provider offers me.

He says theres no need for such a big Power supply and 2 Fans are a bit much which leaves me with a very noisy PC.

He forgot to mention the Graphics Card. :o

So what better System Upgrades do you have in mind and why are the extra things needed (so that i can tell him your ideas are better).

@ daventry

Slightly off topic, but I know how you feel about your system being out of date so quick and not being able to settle on products. I've been building my own pc for over 3 years now and I'm still not finished. I've probably sank close to 20 grand in it. Going to spend 6700 next week when I but my graphics card and the heatsink for it.

Good luck with your system :)

Much difference between the E8500 and E8400?

E8500 is about R1k more for 0.16GHz extra?

yeah, like postmanpot says... rather get the e8400 (or even the e8200, since your naked eye wont make out the bloody speed difference in games and appications) and use the money you save to rather set up a nice little RAID 0. cool little performance increase
