My Sweet Speakers

Ya, to be honest, I'm not too sure what the policy is on such things... Can anyone point me to a thread where I can find out?
 
Z5500's all the way ... sounds better than the logic 7 in my car ... rectron i think is R2500 ex vat am i not right ?

Im actually thinking in getting a pair, and selling my Z2300 for like R1000, if anyone is intersted PM me!
 
I like my z5500 :) but my friend has the z2300 and for a 2.1 pair, id say they worth it

Not so. No studio monitors are THX certified.

ya but THX isnt what it used to be.
if i recall correctly, the THX system was something that was designed back in the day for the star wars movies so that the movie could only initially be shown in theatres that got the thumbs up for sound quality.

nowadays you have dolby and dts and all that other crap, THX is still fairly impressive on a set of computer speakers, but its a bit over-rated.

Well studio monitors as in monitoring speakers. Basically used in studios and offer the highest quality. Well, they should, since thats what you make music on :p
 
I have a pair of Behringer B2031A active studio reference monitors and, well. They are magnificent.

ya. you can easily hear the difference between say, 128kb/s and 192kb/s on decent speakers. even more so when you compare 192kb/s to a lossless codec. you can even hear a difference in quality on different cd's (normally if you compare a local cd with a cd that was recorded elsewhere)

i remember someone telling me that you even get better quality audio off vinyl than you do off cd's and mp3s etc. dont quote me on that though because im not sure if i got it right :rolleyes:
 
You can hear lossy artifacts more clearly yes, but it all depends how fussy one is.

When I'm casually listening to music, even if it's a low quality audio stream, I don't mind the lossy quality, if I'm mastering a track I'm working on, then I am :)

Nope, makes a huge difference, if you don't have a crappy onboard sound card.
