Hi there.

Not sure if anyone here can help but im facing a weird problem with my site. I have Google Webmasters and Google Analytics active and have noticed something strange over the last month. Exactly a month ago to this day my Google traffic on my site was 30% of my total site visits. I had about 500K links indexed in Google and Webmaster showed that my Sitemap was crawled and had 700K links crawled.

Now that 30% I mentioned brought about 15K Google Traffic a day. The rest was from link exchanges etc.

Now... on the 14th July 2010 my site lost 50% of it's Google Traffic. It went from 15K to 7K in one day and from then till now it's been hanging around the 4K to 7K mark... the one day it's 7K and then the next will be 4K... so obviously it's stagnant and not growing.

My traffic from my link exchanges and other search engines have grown whilst Google has not grown one %. My sitemaps have increased and crawled by Google and is now at 2 million... but here is the kicker... my indexed urls are only at 200K now... from 500K a month ago.

Nothing has been changed on the site and the cronjobs do what they are suppose to do. The site takes half a second to load so the problem isn't load related. I have checked out Google's recommendations for Sites etc and we adhere to ALL of them. Our Sitemap is good, our original content is very good... and when typing in the site name in Google we do appear at the top and for the first 20 results... our keywords are the same and hasn't changed but it seems we have dropped down to the 3rd to 4th page for those keywords when we use to be on the first page.

For security reasons I can't give you the websites name or url as I dont want people to know that im associated with it... and no... it's not illegal... it's just to stay anonymous.

I would appreciate any help and if more info is needed then I will gladly provide it.

Thanks

So your site is listed on killerstartups.com? Although I have no solution or any recommendations, I would like to add that those are some decent stats ;-) But that's nothing you dont already know, right? Well done.

To get those links, did you use xrumer, senuke, or scrapebox by any chance? Any link wheels in there? Just wondering :D

You possibly need fresh keywords,or maby relook at the SEO, or you have a competitor who's out googling you and stealing traffic, don't think you can rely purlely on organic google traffic, perhaps up your adwords game, and topup your keyword campaign with fresher words...else google is finding your content less relevant to others..I could be talking rubbish, but that's what comes to mind first..

With those kind of stats, you probably have an article base, my best guess, I might be wrong... and you'll probably need to get fresh content, MAYBE google is getting rid of oldish links. I don't know.

It usually helps to have "old links" with google. I rather guess the problem is repetetiveness. Some of the juice he got from uniform repetetive links. Once google takes note of this, his ranking declines. Could be the google dance or sandbox as well.

Such a complex issue, even now Google might have *manually(no bots) reviewed your web site and found it lacking on some subjects which your keywords claim. This is now happening more often as time goes.
