MyADSL Movie Thread

Yeah, like training drillers to be astronauts is easier than training astronauts to be drillers WTF!

Astronauts are like the most specialised professionals in the world.

For a laugh, read the agony booth review of Armageddon:

I'm not either, but one thing I find VERY important in movies, is that things have to conform to the reality of the world depicted in the movie.

For example, I'm okay with the X-Men having supernatural powers, because it's explained in the narrative how that came about, so I'm able to suspend my belief and enjoy the movie for being realistic as far as it's own particular world is concerned.

However, when a movie has ridiculous things going on and is expecting itself to be taken seriously without having an appropriate explanation or appropriate environment for whatever is happening, I'm simply unable to enjoy it because it just becomes akin to force feeding myself dog ****.

Indeed. The whole premise upon which it is based is utter nonsense. There is no way we would a) see the asteroid in time to do anything about it, b) be able to land any kind of craft on it or c) train a bunch of redneck oil rig drillers to become astronauts in 18 days!

I still enjoyed it though :)

About a year ago, there were a few column inches dedicated to the fact that a real meteor, about the size of the one the killed the dinosaurs, passed within a few hundred thousand kilometres of earth, which in astronomical terms is like a few inches, and it was only discovered three weeks later!!

So i am sure, in real life, there would not be much of this larking around in space, and saving the world thing going on. It would be more like- Whats that there in the sky? BOOOOOM!!!! :p

Grandma's boy. Anyone seen it? I was expecting big things from it. :( Not really that good at all...

I've seen worse.

Funniest 2 movies I've seen sofar (2006 that is) Scary Movie 4 and Date Movie

SM4 sucked for the most part. I reckon I enjoyed it because I had such low expectations for it. Maybe 1 or 2 really funny parts in it only. Its been done too much now.

Date Movie was ok'ish. Came across as a chick flick IMO
haven't seen SM4 yet, but i bet it will be outrageous, filled with toilet humor all the way.

date movie was the worst movie i ever saw... ever! i continued watching hoping it would get better, but it just went from bad to worse.

Date movie. Hell no ! If the trailer is that bad then I hate to see the actual movie

Movie hired today(its holiday time :P):
Waiting... (2005)

very odd movie its like toilet/perv humor + what happens at a resturant + people who serve you food do have lives. In the end you will tip better esp if they handling your food ;) if you think scary movie's were rude.. don't even think of getting this one. The new guy and infact the whole cast sorta pulls it togethor. slight drag since you not sure what the movie is gonna be about/point of movie.

Watched a movie on the weekend which I wasn't expecting much from at all, but I really enjoyed it. The Cave.

Just watched V for Vendetta - pretty entertaining.

V for Vendetta :(
I absolutely hated it. Not my cup of tea.

Who's seen the House Of 1000 Corpses and follow up The Devils Rejects ?

OMG that's some nasty stuff :D

V for Vendetta FTW!

I thought it was really good. A lot of topical political messages in there...Like the end for example...Power to the people and all :)

Good times.

anyone seen kiss kiss bang bang.. I remember going into the movie not knowing anything about it, and not expecting much, we had only chosen it cuz it looked better than harry pothead.. It turned out to be really cool, but definatly one of those movies enjoyed far more when u watch it with a group of mates..
