As I understand it, upstream providers are currently mitigating a DoS attack, which has been intermittent all day (and yesterday morning). Having to email most of my clients about this, as services are continuously offline.

I wish we can say that it is a single issue which can be resolved. This morning an outage on Cloudflare in Johannesburg, combined with international network issues from our host caused the problems.

This is a big priority for us, and we are working on putting measures in place to avoid these problems.

I assure you that this is very unpleasant for us, which means that we are very keen to resolve it ASAP :)

Post an article when you have some answers on what is going on. No info is frustrating, at least rpm's post shows that you are trying to get on top of the problems.
 
Update from Elitehost, who is also a victim of this downtime:

Unfortunately the attack started again this morning, we can confirm that both our primary name server hosted in Johannesburg and secondary name server hosted in Los Angeles USA were targetted. The attack traffic was over 10Gbit/sec but seems to have stopped now. We still have some null routes in place and are monitoring the network closely.

It affected the Hetzner network as well and CloudFlare is also reporting network issues in Johannesburg. We do not have any further information but it seems like there were a few local targets of this attack.

Downtime appears to be intermittent. MyBB appears to have stabilised - perhaps this is because CloudFlare is re-routing traffic.
 
Any idea what the primary objective is of this attack on hetzner and the other DDoS of the past view days.

Are we at war(cyber war)

I had a random Tapatalk notification come through around 13h00 this afternoon.
