MyISP R60 for 3GB

Received my confirmation that account is active

Okay i received an account active pdf today,with a bunch of usernames and
passwords. Ive logged into the site to check remaining bandwidth
which is still 3GB. Ive logged into the email site which worked.

Only thing left to check is if the internet works. Will do that once my last 100MB
is used up.

I should be able to know before monday,,,and then i guess i can do that EFT.

www.speedtest.net and a www.pingtest.net run and post the results?

im not sure if this is any better than the telkom 1GB i have.



i think this is also a good improvement

Now i need to go do that payment,,,
there something that bothers me though.They also sent along DNS ip's, i only entered my username and password,,and it automatically detected other DNS ips ?
Will this affect the tests ? or should i manually enter the DNS ips they sent ?

Thanks for the tests you did..thats right on target for a 384kKbps line!;)

BTW, about the DNS stuff, you should try to set it manually to the ones they sent you and see what happens. Maybe ping will be faster,etc you never know (or rather I don't really know LOL).

Something is fishy

Ive downloaded aprox 418MB in my first day.
I went to the adsl stats page,,,and it said 798MB !!!! wth
It only has one col representing bandwidth for the year.
I had 1 connection,,,in the connections.

So i went and manualy entered the DNS they gave.
Did the tests.

Now it says i have 2 connections !:whistle:

I better contact them and find out whats what.
I would hate to have to pay twice.
or realize that i had actually used the 300mb free internet with the expensive prices once you pass that limit, technically i had 418 but it says 798 :sick:

I tried getting it the 21 Dec 2009 ,everything seemed to have being going according to plan.they sent the form i had to fill in. Sent the form,,didnt get a reply, so i called to tell them i sent it.So they said ok,,and that they were gonna check it out. alot later i got a email requesting ID copy as well, so i sent that. Then nothing.SO i phoned.they said they were busy processing my account itll take aprox 10min,so i phoned back in 15 and they said they were just walking to tech to tell them to leave the other account and jump to mine since ive been waiting so long.i should call back,they work untill 6pm,so i phoned just before 5 and i hear the guy had just left !:sick:

I was very mad,so i just left it...then about the 9th jan 2010 or so they send email,,require bank details, so i send that, 2 days later i get the activation pdf

Maybe i was unlucky for trying to do it just before the christmas holidays etc.:confused:

Early this morning i noticed a speed drop in the webpages loading.
If i disconnect and reconnect it is fixed for about 3-4 pages loading.

then i got to do it again :(
Im gonna mention that to them later today too !

3GB @ R60 is still the cheapest but if its gonna cut the speed whenever
it wants too,,,:mad:

Lets just wait and see what they say.
 
I signed up with Myisp on 1 Dec. The chap who I spoke to (several times) on the phone was very friendly (and quick with his promises) but it took from 8.30am to 5pm - the entire day to get my account activated. I suspect it is a rather small outfit. He said they had been overwhelmed with applications that day. For the price I decided to have patience.
Since then I have had happy browsing, and is it my imagination or do international pages load faster than they did with Axxess..?
 
Ive accepted not getting a reply, and decided. I have my 3 GB, let me just pay and use it.
I took a year. with EFT that way you even score a month.

Overall im glad i have it.

Who needs technical to browse the internet anyway :)

I made a 6 month payment via EFT. I used to pay Axxess monthly by EFT but was a bit nervous to set up a debit order with Myisp having read on this forum the troubles others have had with cancelling Afrihost, for example.
Also I figured for 6 months I could check out their service without too much commitment. So far so good once up and running.

Hi, Linux

Have you noticed any speed drops early in the mornings ?
Do you monitor the amount of bandwidth that you have used ?
Do you use the DNS ips they gave you ?

No, we haven't (asleep at your hours!) and only use it for home office/browsing, not power users.

Yes, basically what I expected, perhaps slightly more but not wildly so.

I can't remember if I set them up at the time, but my router is now set on auto-discovery. The DNS server IPs shown in the router are different to the ones they gave me.

Thanks - I'm considering getting this for my mother. She is currently using Cybersmart (R125 for 3GB)

MyISP is actually half the price. I like the EFT option. I just might do this.

If you decide to get it, make a log of what you dl
so you can compare it to the adsl-stats.

The adsl stats is not realtime-so it takes about 15 min.

Im not a power user,i barely dl but
i seem to have somehow used up the 3GB
in less than 6days ???:sick::(:wtf::cry:

Stats show that i basically use 500MB a day if not more.
Next month ill have to be very strict to see where my bandwidth is disappearing.

And to be safe,like im starting to do now.
disconnect the connection while your not using it.
I saw my network bar dl at 39kB/s and the browser isn't even open.
 
You could have a virus if you're computer is downloading without anything being open. This would definitely account for your unusually high usage as well.

I don't think it's windows updates if you're up to 500mb in a day.

use a program called "iTraffic Monitor" to monitor you bandwidth, thats what i use! :D

My suggestion would be to install Linux........(if you're not a PC-gamer)
